This is one of the coolest and smartest cameras on the market. The surveillance camera is from the AcuSense family from Hikvision, which means that it is particularly suitable for giving you notifications on your phone of people and vehicles. As you can see in the video below, the camera's specialty is to distinguish between people, vehicles and uninteresting things. (continued below the video...)
About the camera
The camera can withstand being placed both indoors and outdoors, as it is IP67 approved, as long as you also install the included membrane. An SD card can be mounted in the camera, which is opened with the included tool ( SD card (memory card not included, but can be purchased here) . There are also screws, raw plugs and a drilling template that can be easily glued to the concrete or bricks, so you know exactly where to drill. The camera can be mounted in all directions, just like a 3-axis camera. The camera can be connected directly to your Hikvision recorder or NAS, but can also be used alone with an SD card (memory card) . When the SD card is inserted, the camera records the video directly onto the card and it can be played directly from the app, so you don't have to take it out. The camera can monitor the health of the SD card.
There are different types of AcuSense cameras, but common to all of them is the designation at the end of the model number.
The model name tells you what features the camera has if it ends in:
- DS-2CDXXX6G2- I = Standard with infrared night vision
- DS-2CDXXX6G2- IU = With infrared night vision and microphone
- DS-2CDXXX6G2- ISU = With infrared nightvision, microphone, alarm input and output
- DS-2CDXXX6G2- ISU/SL = With infrared night vision, microphone, alarm input and output, as well as white strobe light and speaker
About the lens
The camera is available with several lenses and the lens has an impact on "FOV" (Field Of View) or in Danish: Viewing angle.
2.8 mm lens provides a horizontal (horizontal) FOV of 111°, vertical (vertical) FOV of 59° and diagonal (corner to corner) FOV of 131°
4mm lens provides a horizontal (horizontal) FOV of 87°, vertical (vertical) FOV of 47° and diagonal (corner to corner) FOV of 102°
If you are looking at other camera models, it is always wise to check the datasheet to see the FOV with the different lenses. The principles are the same regardless of model, but the angle of view/FOV may be different.
About AcuSense
Even though the camera is intelligent, it still needs some input from you. Once the camera is installed, you can choose from several types of "smart events," including "intrusion detection," where a square is drawn in the image, and when a target moves into the square and stays longer than you have allowed (1-10 seconds), your "reaction" is triggered. There is also line crossing, which detects if a "target" moves across the line you have drawn. It can be both ways or just one way. For example, it can be used for one-way roads, so that an alarm is given when driving in the opposite direction, or in a driveway so that you only get a notification when people arrive, but not when they leave.
See a guide in English from Hikvision here
What is a reaction? The event that is triggered when a rule is violated is called a "reaction." Depending on which model is chosen, you have different options.
Most used "reactions:"
- Push notification on your mobile (get a picture sent directly to your phone of the goal that broke the rule, with a link to live playback in the app)
- Send email (this feature should be used with caution, as email providers may close your account for suspected spamming if too many images are sent)
- Flashing with white light
- Warning sound (siren or voice warning - there is also the option to record your own messages)*
- Alarm output (open a garage door, turn on lights, send signal to your alarm system, interact with IHC, etc.)
To have all functions, choose the models where the model number ends in ISU/SL.
Most cameras in the AcuSense series are available in 4 and 8 Megapixels (2K and 4K)
If the camera is connected to a newer recorder, you can also create "combined" reactions. This means that another given rule must be broken before the "reaction" is triggered (AND logic). In practical terms, this means that you can, for example, "combine" with an "alarm input" so that the camera only sends messages if the alarm is turned on or a motion sensor is triggered. In this way, the system can be integrated into the building's systems.

A power supply is not included for the camera, as most users just use a PoE switch, but if you don't already have a power supply for the camera, you can choose one of the following options:
PoE Switch (recommended): https://ipcam-shop.dk/switch-52/
PoE Injector: https://ipcam-shop.dk/injector-364/
12 Volt power supply: https://ipcam-shop.dk/stroem-tilbehoer-216/stroemforsygning12v1a-p733
Bracket
The camera can be mounted directly on the wall or in the ceiling/overhang. A back box/bracket may be required if the assembly cannot be located behind the wall, ceiling or overhang.
If your AcuSense camera is to be mounted on a mast, you will also need a mast mount. The model number of the mount and mast mount can be found in the data sheet.
NB: REMEMBER TO CHOOSE NETWORK CABLES IF YOU DON'T HAVE THEM YOURSELF, TWO MUST BE USED, ONE FAR FROM THE CAMERA AND INTO THE POE INJECTOR WHICH IS TYPICALLY PLACED BY THE ROUTER AND A CARD THAT GOES FROM THE POE INJECTOR TO THE ROUTER. CHOOSE CABLE!
