Monitoring and securing your holiday home

A summer house is also worth looking after.

It's not nice in the spring to turn up at a cottage where the windows are boarded up and the door is open - and most of it has been destroyed by the weather or burglars.

That's why, in all those dark months, it's nice to know that you get a message if someone is lurking around.

And because it's often a long way to the cottage - it's also nice to be able to check on your mobile that the windows are intact after a storm...

Outdoor camera

Outdoor camera

Outdoor cameras are an important tool in keeping your home safe. With extremely good weather resistance, strong night vision and constant video analysis, outdoor cameras provide 24/7 surveillance of your property. Then you can relax and know that your home is always under surveillance.

Here you will find the most popular models when you do not want to compromise on quality.

02
Indoor camera

Beforedoor camera

With quality indoor cameras, you can safely be away from home. Cameras leave no shadow of doubt as to whether there are, or have been, intruders. A quick look at the phone reveals everything.

Important things to prioritize with indoor cameras are aesthetics and good features for getting a clear image in the dark.

03
Recorder / NVR

Recorders / NVR

A recorder is not necessary - but makes it all so much easier. And at the same time, they can open up even more possibilities, such as facial recognition - or you can do advanced searches in your recordings.

The NVRs you see here can all supply power to the cameras through the network cables.

You can connect a screen directly to your NVR and search the recordings - or you can use your mobile.

We have selected very high quality cameras and the equipment that most naturally fits.

Said with a smile, we expect you to find it as exciting as we do - so when you have screwed the cameras in and plugged in the cables - we have made lots of exciting YouTube videos for you to study .

If, at that time, you still consider that you are made for bigger things, then you just book one of our experts, turn on your computer, start AnyDesk and sit back - while the technician configures and tunes your system together with you.

PTZ Cameras

PTZ Camera

If you want to get really close to the events, there is nothing better than a PTZ camera. If you have not seen before what 25 times zoom is capable of - then you will be surprised when you can recognize a person from half a kilometer away.

Remember that you should always combine a PTZ camera with a normal camera - so that you keep the overview while the PTZ camera zooms in on the detail.

Tips and tricks for surveillance cameras in the summer house

We have collected the most important tips here...
  1. Power and network via the same cable

Consider cameras that support Power over Ethernet (PoE). With PoE, you only need to run a single cable to the camera, as it supplies both power and network.

It saves you installation costs and provides your camera with a stable power supply that allows it to perform more resource-intensive operations, such as advanced image analysis and stronger night vision.

It's one of the things that makes a professional camera far more powerful than a battery-powered camera.

  2. Advanced image analysis

Look for cameras that offer built-in image analysis. These cameras are intelligent enough to distinguish between a spider crawling across the lens and a person walking around your garden.

It helps reduce the number of false alarms and keep you informed about real threats.

  3. Good night vision

Choose cameras with strong night vision. Some cameras are designed with powerful infrared (IR) illumination that can "see" in the dark. This enables them to deliver clear and detailed black and white images, even in low light or total darkness.

The best cameras are able to spy on people using IR - and simultaneously film in color at night, which makes it much easier to recognize the person, the clothes, the color of the car - or even read a number plate.

  4. Consider the camera type

Dome cameras have been popular in the past, but they can have drawbacks when it comes to night vision.

The lens and light source are located on the same side of the dome glass, which can cause glare if the dome is not perfectly clean.

Instead, consider bullet or turret cameras, which offer better night vision.

  5. Weatherproof design

If your camera is to be installed outdoors, it must have a robust and weatherproof design.

Cameras with IP66 or IP67 ratings are dust and waterproof and can handle harsh weather conditions.

  6. Location

The first step might be to place an outdoor camera on an outside corner. Often, however, the camera is much better positioned in an inner corner.

In this way, the camera can keep an eye on two walls - and at the same time the entire area in between. And as a bonus, the intruder can't get behind the camera either.

  7. High resolution

Professional cameras must offer high resolution. If the cameras don't have zoom, you shouldn't go below 4MP outdoors.

The higher the resolution - the more you can enlarge the day you need to see the details of your recordings.

  8. The right lens

The camera field of view is like a funnel. How fast the funnel spreads is determined by the camera lens. In other words, it's the camera's glasses.

If you film areas that are not relevant, you waste part of the camera's fine resolution. In some cases, too wide a field of view can even directly disturb the image quality due to glare.

Typically you have to choose the lens based on the camera's horizontal field of view (Horizontal FOV) If you are in doubt - just ask.

  9. Audio recording and two-way communication

Some cameras offer audio recording or even two-way communication.

Combined with intelligent cameras that respond to people but not dogs, it can be extremely effective to "welcome" when a person strays after 10pm. It also helps to record sound as additional evidence.

  10. Local storage and cloud connection

Consider a solution that offers the connection via the cloud but video is stored locally. It provides the best of both worlds:

Easy connection when you are out in the world - and without subscription costs.
