RJ45 Cat6 modular plug for loose network cable
This RJ45 modular plug is used for Cat6 network cables and is suitable when the installation is done with loose cable from a reel. It’s often a gentler solution for the building, since the cable can be tucked discreetly through walls, ceilings or conduits before the plug is fitted.
The plug is typically used for cable runs from a hard disk recorder, network switch or PoE injector all the way out to the surveillance camera.
Suitable for surveillance cameras
The RJ45 plug can be used for both indoor and outdoor surveillance when correctly fitted to Cat6 installation cable. Normally one plug is used at each end of the cable run.
- Used for IP cameras
- Suitable for Power over Ethernet
- Can also be used for regular network connections
Fitting with a crimping tool
The plug is fitted using a crimping tool. During fitting only the outer jacket of the cable is stripped; the individual conductors do not need to be stripped. The conductors are fed into the plug and pressed in place with the tool.
This ensures a stable and durable connection when done correctly.
Finished cable with many uses
Once the plug is fitted, the cable works like a standard Cat6 network cable. It can therefore be used for network, data, power and video.
Cat6 performance
The Cat6 standard provides high bandwidth and high data speeds, making the plug suitable for modern surveillance solutions.
- Bandwidth up to 250 MHz
- Supports up to 10 Gbit/s
- Can handle many simultaneous video streams
Calculated based on a bitrate of approx. 5 Mbit/s, which is typical for a 4K or 8 MP surveillance camera.
