Connect your Uniview cameras and recorder to your Ajax alarm system
Uniview is one of the most popular surveillance systems on the market and one of the largest manufacturers in the world and you can connect them directly to your AJAX system
Since AJAX and Uniview are both some of the biggest players on the market, they have chosen to make their systems mutually compatible. They've even done it in a way that makes it super easy for you as a user, so you don't need an engineering degree to make it work. When the cameras are connected to you AJAX system, you can associate them with the rooms they sit in or around.
Why connect video surveillance to the alarm system?
Most video surveillance systems already have their own dedicated APP to show the cameras, rewind, set up VCA rules and much more. But imagine that when the alarm starts and the seconds count, you don't need to change the APP, but are shown an image linked directly to the area where the detectors are triggered. You can even add an entire recorder directly and then switch between the cameras in the AJAX APP. That's so smart :)
This function is not intended as a replacement for the original APP for the camera system, but as a supplement in daily use, so that you can get a quick overview of the area where the alarm has started, without switching the APP.
How does it work?
By using the AJAX APP, you can control your alarm, view your surveillance and assign cameras to areas.
It's very easy to connect your monitoring to AJAX, just follow these steps - and if it messes up, you can call us on 70701009.
1. Press the "menu" button in the AJAX APP, select video surveillance and log in to your account.
2. Select which cameras or recorders you want to access.
Remember: In order to be allowed to see the images from cameras, you must go into the Hub's settings, select the users who can see the images and then give them permission for the cameras they can see.
How many cameras can I connect to my AJAX alarm?
You can connect up to 10 cameras and video recorders to the AJAX Hub , up to 25 to the Hub 2 , up to 50 devices to the Hub Plus , and up to 100 devices to the Hub 2 Plus . If you need more than 100 cameras on your system, just add the hard disk recorder instead of the individual camera, as a hard disk recorder only takes up a single slot, although you can still switch between the cameras connected to the recorder.
Can all my users see all the cameras associated with the system?
Yes and no, understood in the sense that it is the plant owner/administrator who controls what the individual user can see. This also means that once the cameras are added to AJAX, no one will be able to see the images until access is granted. This is done under the respective user in the user menu under the Hub settings.
How does AJAX store your personal information?
The video images or "stream" as it is called in professional language are encrypted by AJAX for maximum protection of your private life and nothing is saved or stored by AJAX. It works like this; first, the stream sent from the camera or recorder is sent directly to Uniview's cloud. The stream will then be redirected to the AJAX APP where you will have it presented directly on the screen. Only you and the users you have given access to can see the encrypted stream.
Note that the AJAX APP does not store your camera and Uniview cloud information, so if you change phones, it may be necessary to enter your username and password again.
Uniview is a unique camera brand that makes some cool solutions and quality products that meet all needs. In this article, you can read more about selected features that help make Uniview one of the world's 10 best-selling camera brands.
The article is a bit long, so here we have selected the 5 most important things if you are short on time:
- Uniview is NDAA approved. This means that the Americans have it on the list for "Approved for critical infrastructure", which in our eyes is a blue stamp. See the list here
- Uniview has an enormously wide range that covers cameras for every need, PC and MAC programs, NVR, DVR, XVR and APPs for both Android and iPhone
- Brilliant APP.
- Lightning fast startup and image
- Smart playback functions, so you can easily sort through recordings and possibly only highlight people and vehicles.
- Receive messages, with direct link to "live view" and recording from the relevant camera when there are people in the area.
- Set and set up VCA rules directly in the APP.
- Share and unshare a share directly from the APP
- Their recorders have a lot of smart features that make it very easy to find the interesting events and sort out the others.
- Interaction between recorder and camera on a completely different level. Synchronize between HDD and SD shortly after crash, receive notification when camera goes offline, link between fixed cameras and PTZ cameras, etc.
Uniview is NDAA approved - approved for critical infrastructure
If you don't want to read the whole article about the NDAA, we've boiled it all down here:
- NDAA is an American concept used in this context for equipment approved for critical infrastructure in the United States and its partners.
- NDAA compliance is widely used in Denmark and the rest of the world as a guideline when using reliable equipment in public and critical scenarios.
- NDAA is not a guarantee that you are "home-safe", you still need to have a reasonable basic security policy in general use and on the network.
What is the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
The National Defense Authorization Act, abbreviated NDAA, is an American law that deals with a lot of requirements for the Department of Defense.
Why does the NDAA matter to the European fuse installer?
This is because the customer for whom you are installing may find it difficult to do business with the Americans and their business partners if the products are not NDAA compliant.
In short, requirements are set for services, products and services that are sold to and used by the Ministry of Defense and companies that trade and collaborate with the government and their subcontractors. Therefore, more and more companies in both the United States and the rest of the world have begun to focus on NDAA-approved products.
Why is it so important for the individual consumer?
It doesn't have it directly either, BUT if a product is NDAA approved, you know that the chips in the equipment are approved by the US Department of Defense. Therefore, you can use it as a guideline if you should worry about this sort of thing.
When should you choose to use "NDAA cameras"?
As a starting point, there are no rules in Denmark regarding which chips are used in the cameras, but at the local level there are several municipalities that have already said that there are certain Chinese manufacturers that may not be installed in public buildings. If you have to install surveillance cameras on public buildings, it may be a good idea to use cameras in your offer that are NDAA compliant.
What is the difference between NDAA cameras and non-NDAA cameras
Surveillance and telecommunications equipment containing chips or components from the 5 "banned" companies are not NDAA compliant. This means that it also applies to all the brands that are produced by or use chips from the 5 manufacturers.
The 5 companies are HUAWEI, ZTE, HYTERA, DAHUA and HIKVSION.
As you probably know, one of our best-selling brands, Hikvision , is on the list, so does it mean it's dangerous to use Hikvision when they're blacklisted by the US government? No is the short answer if you ask us. We have great faith in Hikvision and since it is the world's largest manufacturer of video surveillance, they are constantly subject to countless studies and investigations - and when weaknesses are discovered, they are handled and patched extremely quickly.
Where can I read more about the NDAA?
You can see the original source here: One Hundred Fifteenth Congress of the United States of America
The head of an executive agency may not— (A) procure or obtain or extend or renew a contract to procure or obtain any equipment, system, or service that uses covered telecommunications equipment or services as a substantial or essential component of any system , or as critical technology as part of any system; or (B) enter into a contract (or extend or renew a contract) with an entity that uses any equipment, system, or service that uses covered telecommunications equipment or services as a substantial or essential component of any system, or as critical technology as part of any system. (2) Nothing in paragraph (1) shall be construed to— (A) prohibit the head of an executive agency from procuring with an entity to provide a service that connects to the facilities of a third-party, such as backhaul, roaming, or interconnection arrangements; or (B) cover telecommunications equipment that cannot route or redirect user data traffic or permit visibility into any user data or packets that such equipment transmits or otherwise handles.
Uniview has an enormously wide range
Cameras
When video surveillance has to solve a task or challenge, it is important that you choose a brand that can both meet the current requirements, but can also be used for scaling or new challenges. Therefore, you can safely use Uniview, as they have cameras for every challenge:
- Dome and minidome cameras (with and without cable tail)
- Turrets, with and without motorized zoom and 24/7 color images
- Bullets, with and without motorized zoom and 24/7 color images
- Multi-sensor cameras
- PTZ and positioning cameras
- And many others
If you need special functions, we can mention that selected cameras are available
- Number plate recognition (ANPG / ANPR / LPR)
- Thermal cameras
- 180 degree cameras
- Analog and high-resolution analog
- and much more
As you can probably already sense, they cover almost the entire field within cameras and if you don't find what you are looking for on the website, then call us on 70701009 and we will certainly help you further.
The cameras are very stable and are tested both by the manufacturer, but also by us:
To date, the camera has survived since February 9, 2023 and until now underwater.
Recorders
The large range of recorders covers, among other things:
- NVR - a recorder that is used exclusively for IP cameras
- DVR - a recorder used exclusively for analog cameras (yes there are still a few of those out there)
- XVR - a recorder used for CVI/TVI/AHD/CVBS/IP
- VMS - a server-based platform for really large systems (+ 1000 cameras)
The recorders are typically divided into
- 4 channel
- 8 channel
- 16 channels
- 32 channels
- 64 channels
- 128 channels
- 256 channels
All the recorders can be accessed from computers and smart devices, but can even be connected directly to a TV/monitor with HDMI and then controlled directly with a mouse. In this way, you can achieve several cool functions that can help to give extra value for money.
- Connect the system to a dedicated monitor or connect it directly to general. TV, if you then need to look at your surveillance, e.g. in the bedroom or in the office, you just switch to HDMI twice
- Make rules that make a particular image large, e.g. when there are customers at the reception or people in the driveway
- Connect a wireless mouse and operate the system easily and quickly.
- Search for specific recordings or events with the smart built-in filters.
- Get a quick overview of today's events with the Smart-view panel (only in the E series)
- If you have connected number plate cameras, you can even search number plates.
Watch a video about an intelligent Uniview recorder here:
A smart and intelligent hard disk recorder
Software and Apps
A number of cool programs and apps have been made for Uniview's systems:
- EZView (mobile App for smartphones and tablets)
- EZLive (a "lite" version of EZView)
- EZStation (a computer program for both Windows and Mac, here they can watch live, rewind, search for events and much more)
- EZtools (A tool that makes it easy to find the cameras on your network and change basic settings)
- EZWall (if you need a bigger overview, this tool can be very useful)
EZTools is a smart tool for most basic setups
Brilliant APP
Uniview has made some super cool APPs that work for both systems (Android and iOS) - and they are made so uniformly that you can hardly tell the difference. With just a few steps, you have access to your video surveillance and all the benefits that come with it:
- Download " EZView " from google play or App store
- Select language and
- Register with email address or phone no. for easy and secure connection or-
- Don't register if you're the silver foil hat type ;)
- Scan the QR code and you're good to go.
Once you have connected to your system, you have the control of the system in your hand. You can:
- Add and delete systems on your account
- Update both cameras and recorders with a few clicks. It even finds the latest firmware for both NVR and camera - and it even tells you when new firmware is released.
- Set time, summer and winter time, motion detection, light, picture.
- Make VCA rules, such as linecross, intrusion detection, entry and exit area. (these rules are used to receive messages from, not motion detection)
- Make smart playback, where you can see recordings that contain people and vehicles.
- Control cameras that are movable (PTZ cameras)
You can actually see a video complete review we made of the APP here:
Lightning fast startup and image viewing
EZView is clearly one of the fastest APPs we have tested. If you have a reasonable internet speed, it will typically finish loading within 1 second,
Smart playback functions
When viewing recorded files, you can easily choose whether to play 24-hour continuous recording, regular motion detection or whether you simply want to see the times when the VCA rules are broken. These functions make it super easy and quick to skim through today's events.
If you find what you were looking for, you can easily download it to your phone or send it directly to the police or other recipients, via mail, dropbox, whatsapp, signal and many other services.
Get messages with links
When a person or vehicle is detected crossing a line, staying in an area or breaking one of your other rules, you can get a message immediately, on your phone. A very short time passes from the time the message is sent until you receive it. The message you receive also has a built-in link to "live-view" and playback from the camera that sent the message. This gives you the opportunity to make the right decision in a very short time and thereby the opportunity to limit the damage.
Set and set up VCA rules directly in the APP.
VCA (Video Content Analysis) is your watchdog. It is the function that registers people and vehicles that break the rules you have made. An example of rules could be that you would like to be notified when a car drives into your driveway, but not when they drive out. You can set up these functions directly in the APP and that's pretty cool, because there are very few surveillance manufacturers that can do that.
Share, share and share
You can easily share the cameras you want directly from the phone and cancel the sharing again when you no longer want the sharing. You can even choose exactly which rights the person should have. Can they watch live? rewind? Hear sound? Control PTZ cameras etc.
Smart search functions
Their recorders have a lot of smart features that make it very easy to find the interesting events and sort out the others.
Generally speaking, you can search in several different ways.
- On the APP you can choose between:
- 24/7 recordings
- Exercise recordings
- Intelligent Recording (VCA)
- On the local interface you can choose between:
- 24/7 recordings
- Exercise recordings
- Intelligent Recording (VCA)
- Number plates
- Faces etc.
- On a computer, you can choose between:
- 24/7 recordings
- Exercise recordings
- Intelligent Recording (VCA)
- Faces etc.
