Ajax MotionProtect, designed to detect movement in a room
Ajax MotionProtect is an intelligent motion sensor. When the sensor detects movement, it sends an immediate message to the hub and your phone.
How does the sensor work?
MotionProtect has a built-in PIR sensor that detects changes in temperature in a room. If someone moves within the sensor's range while the alarm is armed, it immediately sends an alarm to the Ajax hub, which will forward it to you or activate the siren.
If the sensor is located close to a large facade window or a fan heater, we recommend using MotionProtect Plus, which detects both heat and microwaves. This minimizes the risk of false alarms caused by rapid temperature changes.
How much does the sensor cover?

Can the sensor ignore pets?
Basically yes, but there are many factors that come into play. The sensor has an advanced PIR sensor with a built-in SmartDetect algorithm that allows it to filter out cats and small dogs. For objects smaller than 50 cm and weighing less than 20 kg, the sensor can generally avoid triggering an alarm.
The sensor only assesses the size of the animal in relation to the detection area – not the distance. Therefore, a cat jumping onto a shelf or chair in front of the sensor may take up more of the sensor’s field of view and trigger an alarm.
Therefore, we always recommend that you install magnetic contacts on doors and windows in rooms where animals stay to avoid false alarms.
Easy to set up and configure
MotionProtect is very easy to install. Scan the QR code in the Ajax app and place the sensor where you want it to be. Once the sensor is installed, you can easily customize the functions directly in the app so that it reacts the way you want. For example, you can set a delay so that the alarm is only activated a few seconds after it detects movement - this gives you time to turn off the alarm when you get home. You can also choose whether the sensor should always be active, or only when the alarm is on.
Range
MotionProtect communicates wirelessly with the hub via Ajax Jeweller technology and has a range of up to 1,700 meters in open terrain.
Battery life
The sensor comes with a CR123A battery that can last up to 5 years. Battery life depends on usage and temperature conditions. If the sensor is placed in a very cold environment, battery life may be shorter.
Tamper protection
If someone tries to remove the sensor, it will immediately send a tamper alarm to the hub.
