About time-lapse
Time-lapse is a concept where a series of images, taken over a period of time, are put together into a video, so that a construction that has taken a few years can be played back in a few minutes.
Timelapse is most often used for constructions where the client or customer wants a video of the process from start to finish.

Combine time-lapse and monitoring
By using a good camera like this for time-lapse, you also get surveillance in your hat. You can connect the camera to a hard disk recorder (NVR), NAS or just use the SD card for both monitoring and time-lapse. The camera can choose what percentage of the SD card is to be allocated for images and what percentage for video surveillance. That's mega smart then. This also means that the camera can be accessed from both Hik-connect, web interface and iVMS-4200. The best thing is that the SD card does not even have to be peeled off to play the recordings, you just do it directly from the APP with the SD card in the camera.

Calculation of the length of the video
Example: In a building that takes 24 months, you take 1 picture per hour during working hours from 8-18. There are 11 pictures a day (incl. 08:00 and 18:00).
Total approx. 730 days x 11 images per day = 8030 images in total. Our eyes can perceive 24 frames per second (BPS / FPS), so for them to be fluid you can play at 25 BPS.
The length of the video in this case is calculated from bps / 25: 8030: 25 = 321.2 sec. / 60 = 5.35 minutes.

Better too many pictures than too few. You can always sort in the pictures afterwards, so it is better to take more pictures than you expect. Inside the camera, you can choose how often the pictures should be taken and for what period of time.

Saving images
The pictures taken can be stored in several ways, but we always recommend that the pictures are stored in 2 different places, to minimize the risk of lost pictures.
SD card: When mounting the supplied memory card directly in the camera, you always have a local backup if the network fails. But SD cards should be back-up
FTP: The primary form of storage should be the transfer of images to the FTP server, as it provides more options for control, sharing and crawling.

We are happy to rent out FTP server space if you do not have one available. Then you get a personal login where you can download and share all your time lapse photos. We are also happy to help make the video itself - contact us if you are interested in our solutions.

The camera has the following time-lapse relevant specs:

On time-lapse, resolution is one of the most important factors, which is why 4MP should be the absolute minimum. For most construction projects etc. we recommend from 4K / 8MP and up.

Choice of location
Be sure to mount the camera so that it does not have to be moved as construction projects develop. Therefore, it may be a good idea to find out how high and wide the subject will eventually be and set the camera accordingly. The camera should be mounted on a fixed building part or stable mast / pole. An unstable mast can result in the image "moving" and thereby getting a bad video. Even a few millimeters of "slack" can be too much. If you choose a camera with EIS, you have the option, at the expense of 10% image, to get an electronically stabilized image.

Assembly
The camera can be mounted on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. With brackets, the camera can also be mounted on corners, masts and poles.

Production of the video film

Power supply
The camera is connected to either a PoE injector, a PoE switch or a 12VDC power supply. If you use a PoE injector or PoE switch, the camera is supplied with power through the same network cable that is also used for video signal. In short, you only need to connect one cable, network cable, if you use PoE.
