Discrete 4 MP camera for ceiling installation

The DS-2CD2E43G2-U is designed for in-ceiling installation, giving you a more discreet setup than a traditional dome camera mounted directly on the ceiling surface. The camera has a 4 MP resolution and is available with either a 2.8 mm or 4 mm lens.

Person and vehicle detection

The camera uses Deep Learning to classify people and vehicles. This makes it possible to focus alerts on these targets instead of simply reacting to any motion in the camera image.

Person and vehicle classification is supported with standard motion detection as well as line crossing and intrusion.

Built-in microphone

The DS-2CD2E43G2-U has a built-in microphone, so sound from the area around the camera can be included in the surveillance. The camera also supports background noise filtering.

The datasheet does not list a built-in speaker or external audio connections.

4 MP delivers a detailed image

The camera has a maximum resolution of 2688 × 1520 pixels and delivers up to 25 frames per second at 50 Hz or 30 frames per second at 60 Hz.

Choose between 2.8 mm and 4 mm

The camera is available with two different fixed lenses, so you can choose the field of view based on the area you want to monitor.

2.8 mm gives an approximate 103° horizontal field of view and is ideal when you want a wide overview of, for example, a room, an entrance, or a larger area.

4 mm gives an approximate 84° horizontal field of view and a more focused view forward.

No built-in IR illumination

The DS-2CD2E43G2-U does not have built-in IR illumination. This means the camera cannot light up a completely dark area on its own with infrared light and therefore requires existing lighting to provide a usable image.

The camera is therefore especially suitable for indoor areas where there is normally light, such as shops, offices, reception areas, and other illuminated spaces.

Better image in backlight

The camera handles areas with both strong light and dark sections, resulting in a more balanced image in places such as windows, glass fronts, and entrances with large differences between bright and dark areas.

In addition, BLC, HLC, and 3D DNR are supported for further image adjustment.

Face Detection

The camera supports Face Detection, so it can detect when a face appears in the image.

Face Detection should not be confused with face recognition. The datasheet does not state that the camera can identify specific people against a face database.

How far can the camera see?

The DORI values give a standardized indication of the expected level of detail at different distances and depend on the selected lens.

With 2.8 mm, the values are approximately 56 meters for Detect, 22 meters for Observe, 11 meters for Recognize, and 6 meters for Identify.

With 4 mm, the values are approximately 85 meters for Detect, 34 meters for Observe, 17 meters for Recognize, and 9 meters for Identify.

Supports SD cards up to 256 GB

The camera supports SD cards up to 256 GB, so recordings can be stored directly in the camera. Network storage via NAS and Auto Network Replenishment (ANR) is also supported.

H.265+ reduces storage usage

The DS-2CD2E43G2-U supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+, and H.264. H.265+ helps reduce the amount of video data and therefore the need for storage space and network bandwidth.

PoE or 12 V DC

The camera can be powered by either 12 V DC or PoE according to IEEE 802.3af. With PoE, both power and network data can run through the same network cable.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.

Avoid losing recordings with AutomaticNetwork R eplenishment.
If there are network problems, the camera stores the recordings on an SD- card - and then sends them to the recorder when the connection is stable again.
