8MP OwlView Plus with color images around the clock

This camera is part of Univiews OwlView Plus series and is designed for installations where you want color images in very low light.

The large 1/1.8 sensor combined with an F1.0 lens means the camera can capture more light than traditional models. In practice, this gives clear and usable color images in situations where other cameras have already switched to black-and-white.

ColorHunter and F1.0 lens

The camera is equipped with an F1.0 lens that lets in significantly more light than ordinary lenses. Together with OwlView Plus technology, this means you get color images in very low light without relying on strong lighting.

It provides more detailed recordings in the evening and at night, where colors can be important for identification.

Dual light with IR and white light

The camera has both infrared illumination and white light with a range of up to 40 meters.

You can choose whether the camera should record discreetly with IR in black-and-white, or automatically turn on white light when detection occurs and provide color images. This lets you choose between discreet monitoring or a visible response.

Person and vehicle detection

The camera can distinguish between people, vehicles and general motion. That means you don't just get a notification because something moved – you only get one when it's actually relevant.

In practice, you can for example choose to be notified only when a person enters your property, or when a car drives into the area. Leaves in the wind, rain, shadows and small animals are in most cases filtered out, so you avoid unnecessary notifications.

You can combine this with rules like line crossing or intrusion into a specific area. That means the camera only reacts when a person or vehicle crosses a virtual line or moves into an area you've marked in the image.

This gives a far more useful system in everyday use, because you don't get "alarm fatigue" from constant motion notifications. Instead you get alerts when there is actually something you should look at.

For the feature to work optimally, correct mounting is important. The camera's height, angle and distance to the area affect how accurate the classification will be. When placed correctly, it's a significant improvement over traditional motion detection.

Visible strobe light on events

The camera is equipped with a visible white strobe light that can be activated on an event. That means the camera not only records, but also reacts visibly.
When a person or vehicle moves into an area you've marked, the camera can turn on the flashing light. That makes it clear to the surroundings that activity has been detected.

In practice, this can have a preventive effect because the person becomes aware they have been detected. It can be relevant at, for example, construction sites, storage areas, driveways or other places where you want a visible response from the surveillance.

You can choose whether the strobe light should be active all the time, only for certain events or completely off. This makes it possible to adapt the solution to the surroundings and desired visibility.

People counting and area analysis

The camera supports people counting, which means it can detect how many people move through a defined area. For example, you can mark an entrance or passage and get an overview of how many go in and out.

It can be used to get an overview of activity in an area – for example at a gate, courtyard or building entrance. You can see trends over time and get a better understanding of when activity is highest.

The camera also supports monitoring crowd density in an area. That means it can detect if many people are gathered in one place. This can be relevant in situations where you want extra attention during larger gatherings.

It's important to note that accuracy depends on correct mounting. The camera's placement, height and angle greatly affect how precise the detection will be. The function is primarily a tool for overview and statistics – not an access control system.

Built-in audio

The camera has a built-in dual microphone and speaker. That means you can both record sound from the area and speak through the camera directly from your phone or computer.

Audio can provide extra documentation in situations where it's not only important what happens, but also what is said. This can be useful in disagreements, break-ins or unwanted presence on private property.

Via the app you can enable two-way audio and communicate directly through the camera. It can be used to talk to tradespeople, welcome guests – or make it clear that the area is monitored.

It's important to be aware that audio recording is regulated by law. At minimum, one of the people present must be aware that audio is being recorded. This can for example be handled with clear signage.

WDR and handling backlight

With 130 dB WDR the camera can handle large differences between light and dark in the same image. That means people in front of a bright background still appear clearly.
This is an advantage at entrances, gates and areas with strong backlight.

Recording to NVR and microSD

The camera can record to a network video recorder or directly to a microSD card up to 512 GB.
This provides local backup if the network connection is interrupted.

Mobile access and remote viewing

You can view live video, search recordings and receive events directly on your phone via Univiews app.
It only requires an internet connection, and the connection is set up without advanced router configuration.
