This camera:
This is the ultimate ColorVu camera (read more about the ColorVu concept further down). It has excellent light sensitivity, a built-in microphone, speaker, strobe light and 30 meters of its own illumination. Note that in the ColorVu series the light is visible white light. The camera connects simply to a PoE switch, PoE injector, 12V power supply or a recorder with PoE outputs. The camera features a 1/1.8" Progressive Scan CMOS image sensor - and it’s good ;)
But it doesn’t stop there, because generation 2, DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL, also means the camera includes some pretty cool analytics that come as standard and are free to use. The analytics include classification of people and vehicles, similar to what you know from AcuSense. (If you want this function but without visible light, check out AcuSense cameras).

The advantage of ColorVu
The ColorVu series is one of the best camera ranges for the price. What sets these surveillance cameras apart is their light sensitivity, which is extremely impressive. Unlike conventional surveillance cameras whose own illumination is IR (infrared ~850nm), the camera’s built-in illumination is visible. The visible white light makes the cameras more noticeable and has a strong deterrent effect. Another advantage of the visible white light is that it can also serve as additional lighting on the building.

Mounting
The camera can be mounted in any orientation, including "upside-down" where the camera is mounted in an eave or on a ceiling, side-mounted on a vertical wall, or at an angle on sloped surfaces.
If the camera is not mounted on a surface where the connector can be on "the other side", you should consider a bracket—see the image below:
If the camera’s "tail" can be on the other side of the mounting surface as shown above, then you don’t need a bracket.
