ANPR camera for license plate reading at gates, driveways, and road lanes

iDS-2CD7A26G0/P-IZHS(Y) is a 2MP ANPR camera designed to detect and recognize license plates directly in the camera. It is well suited for barrier systems, entry and exit points, parking areas, and road sections where automatic vehicle registration is needed. With DarkFighter technology, 140 dB WDR, powerful IR illumination, and a varifocal lens, the camera delivers clear images both day and night – even in challenging lighting conditions. It can work with both allowlists and blocklists and supports vehicle attributes such as color and type.

License plate recognition (ANPR)

The camera has built-in deep learning-based license plate recognition, so it can find, capture, and read license plates on its own – without depending on an external analysis server. It can handle both standard plates and more complex plate types. Blocklists and allowlists can be set up so that specific license plates trigger different actions or alarms, such as barrier opening or an alarm for an unwanted vehicle.

Vehicle detection and metadata

In addition to license plates, the camera can register different vehicle attributes, such as type and color (and in some scenarios also make). This information can be sent on as metadata to a recorder or VMS, making it possible to search recordings based on vehicle types and events. This makes the camera well suited for more advanced traffic and parking solutions.

DarkFighter – great performance in low light

With a high-quality image sensor and DarkFighter technology, the camera can make use of very little light and still deliver usable images. This is important on roads, gates, and lots where lighting may be limited at night. It helps both with license plate reading and general documentation.

Varifocal lens – two versions for different distances

• 2.8–12 mm: reading distance from 2.5 to 12 meters
  wider image, suitable for shorter distances and wider zones (e.g. gate, driveway close by, parking lot entrance)
• 8–32 mm: reading distance from 7.2 to 28.9 meters
  narrower image and longer range, suitable for road sections or driveways where the camera is placed farther away from vehicles

The varifocal lens means you can adjust the image to the actual mounting distance and the field of view you want.

IR illumination and smart light control

The camera uses IR illumination to ensure license plates and vehicles are clearly visible in the dark:

• 2.8–12 mm version: up to approx. 50 m IR range
• 8–32 mm version: up to approx. 100 m IR range

The smart IR controls the light so the subject does not become overexposed, even when the vehicle gets close.

Perimeter and event detection

In addition to ANPR, the camera can also be used for classic surveillance tasks such as:

• Line crossing
• Zone protection (entry/exit in an area)
• Intrusion and region detection

This makes it useful for both traffic purposes and general security monitoring.

Multiple streams – flexible integration

The camera supports up to 5 simultaneous video streams with different resolutions and compression formats. This means you can, for example, have one stream for the recorder, one for live viewing, one for mobile, and one for analysis – without putting unnecessary load on the system.

Local recording on SD card

A built-in microSD slot (up to 256 GB) makes local recording directly in the camera possible. It can be used as backup if the network or recorder fails, or as a simple stand-alone solution.

Do you need special software or a recorder?

iDS-2CD7A26G0/P-IZHS(Y) can itself:

• Find and read license plates
• Create allowlists/blocklists
• Trigger events (open barrier, alarm output, message, etc.)
• Send plate data to an app, NVR, or server
• Save images on SD card or NAS

You do not need a special server to make ANPR work, but there are features that become significantly better with the right recorder or software.

A compatible NVR gives you:

• History log of all license plates
• Search in previous plates
• Access-control-like functions (e.g. automatic opening for permitted plates)
• Database of vehicles and events
• Better handling of metadata and vehicle attributes
• More stable operation in large installations
