ANPR camera for license plate reading at gates, entrances and roadways

iDS-2CD7A26G0/P-IZHS(Y) is a 2MP ANPR camera designed to detect and recognize license plates directly in the camera. It's suitable for barrier systems, entrances and exits, parking areas and road stretches where automatic vehicle registration is desired. With DarkFighter technology, 140 dB WDR, powerful IR illumination and a varifocal lens, the camera delivers clear images day and night — even in challenging lighting conditions. It supports both allowlist and blocklist and can detect vehicle attributes like color and type.

License plate recognition (ANPR)

The camera has built-in deep learning-based license plate recognition, so it can locate, capture and read plates itself — without relying on an external analytics server. It handles both standard plates and more complex plate types. You can set up a blocklist and allowlist so specific plates trigger different actions or alarms, for example opening a barrier or alerting on an unwanted vehicle.

Vehicle detection and metadata

In addition to plates, the camera can detect various vehicle attributes, for example type and color (and in some scenarios also make). That information can be sent as metadata to a recorder or VMS, allowing you to search recordings based on vehicle types and events. This makes the camera suitable for more advanced traffic and parking solutions.

DarkFighter – strong performance in low light

With a high-quality image sensor and DarkFighter technology, the camera can use very little light and still deliver usable images. This is important for roads, gates and plazas where lighting can be limited at night. It improves both plate reading and general documentation.

Varifocal lens – two variants for different distances

• 2.8–12 mm: read range between 2.5 and 12 meters
  wider field of view, suitable for shorter distances and wide zones (e.g. gate, nearby entrance, parking lot entrance)
• 8–32 mm: read range between 7.2 and 28.9 meters
  narrower field of view with longer reach, suitable for road stretches or entrances where the camera is farther from vehicles

The varifocal lens lets you adapt the image to the specific mounting distance and desired field of view.

IR illumination and smart light control

The camera uses IR illumination to ensure plates and vehicles are clear in the dark:

• 2.8–12 mm variant: up to approx. 50 m IR range
• 8–32 mm variant: up to approx. 100 m IR range

The smart IR controls the light so the subject isn’t overexposed when a vehicle comes close.

Perimeter and event detection

Besides ANPR, the camera can also be used for classic surveillance tasks such as:

• Line crossing
• Zone protection (entry/exit of an area)
• Intrusion and region detection

This makes it useful for both traffic purposes and general security surveillance.

Multiple streams – flexible integration

The camera supports up to 5 simultaneous video streams with different resolutions and compression formats. This means you can have, for example, one stream for the recorder, one for live view, one for mobile and one for analytics — without unnecessarily loading the system.

Local recording to SD card

A built-in microSD slot (up to 256 GB) allows local recording directly on the camera. It can be used as a backup if the network or recorder fails, or as a simple stand-alone solution.

Do you need special software or a recorder?

The iDS-2CD7A26G0/P-IZHS(Y) can on its own:

• Find and read license plates
• Create allowlists/blocklists
• Trigger events (open barrier, alarm output, notification, etc.)
• Send plate data to an app, NVR or server
• Store images on SD card or NAS

You don’t need a special server for ANPR to work, but some functions become significantly better with the right recorder or software.

A compatible NVR gives you:

• Historical log of all license plates
• Search in past plates
• Access-control-like functions (e.g. automatic opening for allowed plates)
• Database of vehicles and events
• Better handling of metadata and vehicle attributes
• More stable operation in large installations
