8 MP AXIS dome camera for harbor environments

AXIS Q3538-SLVE combines high 4K resolution with an enclosure developed for corrosive and demanding areas. The camera is DNV certified and offers extensive protection against water, dust, and mechanical impact. This makes the model especially interesting for, for example, maritime installations and areas where the camera is exposed to frequent cleaning or corrosive influences.

SS 316L stainless steel for corrosive areas

The camera housing is made of electropolished SS 316L stainless steel, which offers high resistance to corrosion. Axis highlights the model for environments where the camera may be exposed to seawater and cleaning chemicals.

The camera is also DNV certified and NEMA 4X rated. NEMA 4X includes extra protection against corrosion, making it relevant for installations near the sea or in other corrosive environments.

8 MP 4K resolution

AXIS Q3538-SLVE delivers video at up to 3840 × 2160 pixels. The high resolution provides plenty of detail in the image and also gives you a solid starting point if you later need to digitally zoom in on a recording.

With WDR enabled, the camera can deliver up to 25/30 frames per second. Without WDR, it supports up to 50/60 frames per second.

Motor zoom from 6.2 to 12.9 mm

The varifocal lens ranges from 6.2 to 12.9 mm and has remote zoom and focus. This makes it possible to adjust the image area after installation without having to manually adjust the lens at the camera.

In the wide setting, the horizontal field of view is 103°. When zoomed in, the field of view narrows to 49°, so the camera can focus more detail on a smaller area farther away.

AI detection of people and vehicles

The camera has a built-in Deep Learning Processing Unit and AXIS Object Analytics. This makes it possible to detect and classify people and different types of vehicles directly in the camera.

Among vehicles, the camera can distinguish between cars, buses, trucks, bicycles, and other vehicles. The analytics can be used for line crossing, object in area detection, dwell time, and counting. Up to 10 analytics scenarios can be set up.

Lightfinder 2.0 for low light

Lightfinder 2.0 helps the camera preserve color and detail when light levels get low. The camera is specified down to 0.07 lux in color under the stated measurement conditions.

When there is no longer enough light, the camera can switch to black and white and use the built-in IR illumination.

OptimizedIR for surveillance in the dark

AXIS Q3538-SLVE has built-in OptimizedIR with 850 nm IR LEDs. The range is specified at 40 meters or more depending on the area and the conditions around the camera.

This allows the camera to deliver video in complete darkness without the need for regular lighting.

Forensic WDR up to 120 dB

Forensic WDR helps preserve detail in areas with strong differences between the brightest and darkest parts of the image. This can be useful, for example, at gates, entrances, or areas with strong backlight.

AXIS Q3538-SLVE supports Forensic WDR up to 120 dB depending on the scene.

AXIS Image Health Analytics

AXIS Image Health Analytics can detect problems with the camera image. The function can identify, among other things, a blocked image, changed camera direction, blurry image, and underexposure.

This makes it possible to react if the camera is still available on the network, but the image is no longer usable as expected.

AXIS Live Privacy Shield

AXIS Q3538-SLVE supports AXIS Live Privacy Shield, which can be downloaded to the camera. The function can be used to mask relevant parts of the video image when privacy protection is needed.

Option for external microphone and speaker

The camera has connections for an external microphone or line-in as well as line-out. It supports two-way full duplex audio when the necessary external audio equipment is connected.

There is also the option for speaker pairing with compatible equipment.

Supports SD cards

The camera supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards, so recordings can be stored directly at the camera. The SD card can also be encrypted.

Recordings can also be stored on compatible network storage such as a NAS.

Zipstream reduces storage needs

AXIS Zipstream works with H.264 and H.265 and is designed to preserve important details in the video image while reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. According to Axis, the technology can reduce bandwidth and storage needs by around 50% on average.

AXIS Edge Vault

AXIS Edge Vault is the camera’s hardware-based security platform. It protects, among other things, the camera’s identity and cryptographic information and supports features such as Secure Boot, Signed OS, Signed Video, and secure storage of cryptographic keys.

The camera includes TPM 2.0, a secure element, and hardware-based secure storage, which are used to protect sensitive information and secure communication with the camera.

PoE or separate power supply

The camera can be powered via PoE+, so network and power can run through the same cable. It supports IEEE 802.3at Type 2 Class 4 and has a typical power consumption of 9 W and a maximum of 23 W via PoE.

Alternatively, the camera can be powered with 10-28 V DC.

For areas with water, dust, and heavy cleaning

AXIS Q3538-SLVE is rated IP66, IP67, IP68, and IP6K9K. IP6K9K is relevant in environments where the equipment may be exposed to cleaning with water under high pressure and high temperature.

At the same time, the camera is IK11 rated for 50 joules against mechanical impact. The electronics are enclosed, and the design includes, among other things, stainless steel screws and dehumidifying membranes.

Can be used from -50 °C to +55 °C

The camera is designed for large temperature fluctuations and has an operating temperature range of -50 °C to +55 °C. The start-up temperature is -40 °C.

This makes the model suitable for installations where the temperature is outside the range that ordinary surveillance cameras are typically designed for.

Power over Ethernet
