Bosch NBE-7704-AL 8 MP bullet camera with motorized zoom, Starlight and 60 m IR

4K bullet camera for demanding outdoor surveillance

NBE-7704-AL is built for installations where image quality, analytics, and mechanical robustness all play a central role. The camera features a large 1/1.8" sensor with 8 MP resolution and combines this with Bosch Starlight and HDR to preserve detail in challenging lighting conditions.

The rugged design is also developed with high corrosion resistance and comprehensive protection against water, dust, impact, and demanding weather conditions.

8 MP and true 4K UHD

The camera’s 1/1.8" CMOS sensor delivers a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels. This provides a detailed 4K UHD image that’s well suited for areas where you want both a broad overview and the ability to see smaller details.

NBE-7704-AL can deliver up to 30 frames per second at 8 MP with HDR enabled.

License plate recognition requires a separate license

The camera can be expanded with IVA Pro License Plate for license plate recognition. This function can detect and read license plates in real time and can, for example, be used at driveways, parking areas, and other places where vehicles need to be registered.

IVA Pro License Plate is not included as standard and requires a separate license before license plate recognition can be activated and used on the camera.

Motorized 4.4-10 mm lens

The motorized lens ranges from 4.4 to 10 mm and makes it possible to adjust both zoom and focus electronically.

At 4.4 mm, the horizontal field of view is approximately 108°, giving a wide overview of the scene. At 10 mm, the field of view is reduced to approximately 44°, allowing the camera to focus on a smaller area farther away.

The lens has P-Iris and is IR-corrected.

Starlight for very low light

Bosch Starlight technology combines sensor, image processing, and noise reduction to maintain a usable color image at very low light levels.

The camera’s light sensitivity is specified at 0.037 lux in color and 0.0098 lux in black and white at F1.6. With IR enabled, the camera can operate at 0 lux.

Intelligent IR up to 60 meters

NBE-7704-AL has intelligent 850 nm IR illumination with a range of up to 60 meters.

The camera uses multiple IR beam angles that adapt to the lens zoom position. This helps provide more even illumination across the image and reduces the risk of very bright areas close to the camera and dark areas farther away.

IR intensity can be adjusted automatically or manually.

Option for invisible 940 nm IR

The built-in illumination module can be replaced. By default, 850 nm IR is used, but Bosch also offers an optional 940 nm IR module.

940 nm IR is less visible to the human eye and, according to Bosch, has a range of up to 45 meters on this model.

IVA Pro Buildings and IVA Pro Perimeter included

NBE-7704-AL comes with both IVA Pro Buildings and IVA Pro Perimeter.

The Deep Learning-based analytics functions can detect, classify, and track people and vehicles. The system is designed to work in both calm areas and more complex scenes with many objects.

The video analytics are also designed to be resilient against many typical causes of false alarms, such as rain, snow, hail, reflections, shadows, insects, and moving vegetation.

Advanced alarm rules and object analytics

The camera can, among other things, work with:

• Objects in defined areas
• Line crossing
• Entry and exit from areas
• Dwell time
• Route tracking
• Left and removed objects
• Counting
• Occupancy
• People counting estimates
• Objects stopping or starting to move

Objects can be filtered by, among other things, size, speed, direction, duration, color, format, and object class. The camera supports up to 16 simultaneous alarm rules.

Auto-calibration makes setup easier

The camera supports automatic calibration for video analytics. Using, among other things, gyro data, the lens focal length, and the camera mounting height, the system can convert image data into real-world measurements such as size, speed, and position.

AI is also used to detect people and vehicles and help determine the calibration parameters.

Option for additional IVA Pro functions

In addition to IVA Pro Buildings and IVA Pro Perimeter, the camera can be expanded with additional analytics functions through separate licensing.

This includes, among others, IVA Pro Traffic, IVA Pro Appearance, IVA Pro Personal Protective Equipment, and IVA Pro Visual Gun Detection.

Bosch also offers licenses for, among other things, license plate recognition, vehicle information, and detection of hazardous goods signs.

HDR up to 120 dB

The camera’s HDR helps preserve detail in scenes where very bright and very dark areas appear at the same time.

This is, for example, relevant at gates, entrances, traffic areas, and outdoor scenes with strong backlight. The camera supports several HDR settings, including HDR, HDR Optimized DR, and HDR Extreme DR.

How far can the camera see?

At 4.4 mm, Bosch states the DORI distances at approximately 55 meters for detection, 22 meters for observation, 11 meters for recognition, and 5 meters for identification.

At 10 mm, the calculated distances increase to approximately 172 meters for detection, 68 meters for observation, 34 meters for recognition, and 17 meters for identification.

The DORI values are standardized calculations based on the number of pixels on an object. They are not the same as the camera’s IR range and do not indicate the range of the IVA video analytics either.

Electronic image stabilization

The camera has built-in electronic image stabilization that detects continuous vibrations and corrects the image both horizontally and vertically.

This feature is especially relevant for installations on, for example, poles, traffic areas, or other places where vibrations can affect the image.

The crop factor for stabilization can be adjusted so you can find a balance between field of view and the degree of vibration compensation.

Dual microSD for redundant or expanded storage

NBE-7704-AL has two microSD slots and supports microSDHC and microSDXC with up to 2 TB.

The two cards can, among other things, be configured as mirrored storage for redundancy, failover, or as combined expanded storage capacity.

The camera also supports industrial SD cards with monitoring of card condition and early service indication.

H.265 and Bosch Intelligent Streaming

The camera supports H.265, H.264, and MJPEG as well as Bosch Intelligent Streaming.

Up to four video streams can be configured individually with different resolutions and frame rates. This makes it possible to tailor live viewing, recording, and remote access separately.

Gigabit Ethernet and flexible cabling

NBE-7704-AL supports 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet and has both a standard RJ45 connection and a punch-down connection.

The punch-down solution makes it possible to run larger network cables directly into the camera without first switching to a shorter patch cable in a separate box.

PoE or separate power supply

The camera supports PoE according to IEEE 802.3af/802.3at Type 1, Class 3. Power and network connection can therefore be carried through the same network cable.

Typical PoE consumption is approximately 7 W, with a maximum consumption of 12.95 W.

Alternatively, the camera can be powered by 12-26 V DC or 24 V AC. PoE and separate power supply can also be connected at the same time for redundant power.

For audio, alarms, and external integrations

The camera has both audio input and audio output and supports full duplex and half duplex audio.

In addition, there are two alarm inputs and one alarm output, as well as a 12 V DC power output of up to 50 mA.

NBE-7704-AL supports ONVIF Profile S, G, T, and M.

Extremely robust outdoor construction

The camera’s aluminum housing is developed for demanding outdoor environments and is rated IP66, IP67, and IP6K9K.

IK10 provides protection against mechanical impact, while NEMA 4X includes requirements for weather and corrosion resistance, among other things.

With PoE, the camera can operate from -40 °C to +60 °C. With 12 V DC or 24 V AC, the operating range is specified as -50 °C to +60 °C.

Built-in data security

NBE-7704-AL has built-in cryptographic TPM functionality with support for RSA 4096-bit and AES/CBC 256-bit.

The camera supports, among other things, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3, Secure Boot, signed firmware, software sealing, X.509 certificates, XTS-AES encryption of local storage, and end-to-end encryption with compatible video management systems.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.
