4 MP AcuSense camera with DarkFighter, audio and light alarm

DS-2CD2046G2-IU/SL combines standard video surveillance with several features that can be used to respond to an incident. AcuSense helps detect people and vehicles, while the camera’s built-in speaker and flashing light can be activated as a visible and audible warning.

AcuSense focuses on people and vehicles

Hikvision AcuSense uses Deep Learning to classify people and vehicles. This means the camera can focus on specific target types instead of only reacting to any movement in the image.

This makes it possible to generate more relevant alarms and is especially useful for outdoor surveillance, where there may be many other types of movement within the camera’s field of view.

More options for perimeter protection

The camera supports line crossing detection, intrusion detection, region entrance detection and region exiting detection.

This means, for example, that the camera can monitor whether a person or vehicle crosses a specific line, moves into a defined area or leaves the area. These functions can be used at gates, driveways, buildings and other restricted areas.

Flashing light and audio warning

DS-2CD2046G2-IU/SL has a built-in flashing light and supports audio warning. These functions can be linked to a detected event, so the camera does not only send an alarm or start recording, but can also provide a visible and audible warning on site.

For example, this can be used together with the camera’s perimeter functions when a person or vehicle is detected in an area that the camera is monitoring.

Built-in microphone and speaker

The camera has both a built-in microphone and speaker, and therefore supports two-way communication. You can hear what is happening near the camera and speak through the camera’s speaker at the same time.

The built-in speaker is specified at 1.2 W and a maximum sound pressure level of 95 dB measured at 10 cm. The camera also supports filtering of background noise.

DarkFighter for very low light

DarkFighter technology helps the camera deliver usable images in very low light conditions. The camera’s light sensitivity is specified down to 0.003 lux in colour at F1.4.

When there is no longer enough light, the camera can switch to black and white and use the built-in IR illumination.

Up to 40 metres of IR

The built-in 850 nm IR illumination has a range of up to 40 metres. The camera can therefore continue surveillance in complete darkness, where the image is shown in black and white.

The camera also has Smart Supplement Light, which controls the supplementary lighting.

4 MP provides a detailed image

The camera has a maximum resolution of 2688 × 1520 pixels. This gives more image points than traditional Full HD and therefore a better chance of seeing smaller details in the recordings.

At 50 Hz, the camera can deliver up to 25 frames per second at full resolution, while at 60 Hz it supports up to 30 frames per second.

Choose between 2.8 mm and 4 mm

DS-2CD2046G2-IU/SL is available with three different fixed lenses, so the camera’s field of view can be chosen according to the area to be monitored.

2.8 mm gives approximately a 103° horizontal field of view and is the widest version. It is a great fit for entrances, terraces, courtyards and other areas where a wide overview is important.

4 mm gives approximately an 83° horizontal field of view and focuses the image a little more forward while still maintaining a fairly wide overview.

Better image when there are large differences between light and dark

The camera can handle scenes where there are both very bright and dark areas in the same image. This can be, for example, at an entrance with strong daylight in the background or in areas with both sun and shadow.

Technically, the camera uses 120 dB WDR and also supports BLC, HLC and 3D DNR for image adjustment.

Face Capture

The camera supports Face Capture. This function can detect faces in the image and capture pictures of them when they are detected.

Face Capture should not be confused with actual face recognition against a database. The datasheet specifies Face Capture on the camera itself, but not identification of specific people.

How far can the camera see?

The DORI values depend on the selected lens and describe the expected level of detail in the image.

With 2.8 mm, the values are approximately 60 metres for Detect, 23.8 metres for Observe, 12 metres for Recognize and 6 metres for Identify.

With 4 mm, the values are approximately 80 / 31.7 / 16 / 8 metres

The DORI values should not be confused with the camera’s IR range, which is specified at up to 40 metres.

Supports SD cards up to 256 GB

DS-2CD2046G2-IU/SL supports SD cards up to 256 GB, so video can be stored directly in the camera. Network storage via NAS is also supported.

With compatible Hikvision memory cards, encryption and memory card health monitoring are also supported.

H.265+ reduces storage usage

The camera supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264. H.265+ helps reduce the amount of video data that needs to be stored and sent over the network.

This is especially useful for continuous recording, where storage usage has a major impact on how long recordings can be kept.

PoE makes installation simple

The camera can be powered by either 12 V DC or PoE according to IEEE 802.3af. When using PoE, both power and network data can run through the same network cable.

This usually means that only one cable needs to be run to the camera when connecting it to a compatible PoE switch or PoE recorder.

IP67 for outdoor installation

DS-2CD2046G2-IU/SL has a metal housing and is IP67 rated. The camera can operate at temperatures from -30 °C to +60 °C and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.
