4 MP AcuSense camera for surveillance day and night

DS-2CD2046G2H-I combines Hikvision’s AcuSense technology with DarkFighter and a bright F1.0 aperture. The camera can therefore be used both for targeted detection of people and vehicles and for surveillance in places where there is very little light. When it gets completely dark, the camera’s built-in IR illumination takes over.

AcuSense focuses on people and vehicles

Hikvision AcuSense uses Deep Learning to classify people and vehicles. The camera can therefore focus on the target types that are typically relevant in video surveillance, rather than simply detecting that something is moving in the image.

This makes it possible to create more targeted alerts, for example when a person or vehicle enters a monitored area.

Line crossing and monitoring of specific areas

The camera supports line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting. These functions can be combined with people and vehicle classification.

With line crossing, you can, for example, define a line at a driveway or gate and have the camera react when a person or vehicle crosses it. You can also define a specific area and detect relevant targets when they move into or leave the area.

DarkFighter for very low light

DarkFighter technology is designed to provide a usable image even when only very little light is available. The camera is specified down to 0.001 lux in color at F1.0.

This means the camera can make use of very small amounts of existing light. When there is no longer enough light, the camera can switch to black and white and use the built-in IR illumination.

Up to 40 meters of IR in the dark

DS-2CD2046G2H-I has built-in 850 nm IR illumination with a range of up to 40 meters. The camera can therefore continue surveillance in complete darkness, where the image is shown in black and white.

The camera also supports Smart Supplement Light for controlling the supplementary IR illumination.

4 MP gives a detailed image

The camera has a maximum resolution of 2688 × 1520 pixels. This provides more image points than traditional Full HD and therefore a better chance of seeing smaller details in the recordings.

At 50 Hz, the camera can deliver up to 25 frames per second at full resolution, while at 60 Hz it supports up to 30 frames per second.

Choose between 2.8 mm and 4 mm lens

DS-2CD2046G2H-I is available with either a 2.8 mm or 4 mm fixed lens. The main difference is how wide an area the camera captures.

2.8 mm provides a horizontal field of view of about 100° and is the wider of the two versions. It is a great fit for entrances, terraces, courtyards and other areas where you want a broad overview.

4 mm provides a horizontal field of view of about 81°. This creates a more focused forward view, which can be an advantage for example at a driveway, gate or passageway.

Better image in backlight

The camera can handle areas where there is a large difference between the bright and dark parts of the image. This can be the case, for example, at an entrance with strong daylight in the background or on a property where some areas are in sunlight and others in shade.

The camera also supports BLC, HLC and 3D DNR for further image adjustment.

Face Capture

DS-2CD2046G2H-I supports Face Capture, so the camera can detect faces in the image and take pictures of them when they are captured.

Face Capture should not be confused with facial recognition. The camera function detects faces, but the datasheet does not specify identification of specific people against a face database.

How far can the camera see?

The DORI values provide a standardized indication of how far from the camera different levels of detail in the image can be expected.

With 2.8 mm, the values are approximately 63 meters for Detect, 25 meters for Observe, 12 meters for Recognize and 6 meters for Identify.

With 4 mm, the values are approximately 78 meters for Detect, 31 meters for Observe, 15 meters for Recognize and 7 meters for Identify.

The DORI values should not be confused with the camera’s IR range. The built-in IR illumination has a range of up to 40 meters.

Supports SD cards up to 512 GB

DS-2CD2046G2H-I supports SD cards up to 512 GB, so recordings can be stored directly in the camera. In addition, the camera supports network storage via NAS.

With compatible Hikvision memory cards, encryption of the memory card and monitoring of the card’s condition are also supported.

H.265+ reduces storage use

The camera supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264. H.265+ helps reduce the amount of video data that needs to be stored and sent over the network.

This means less storage space is required, which is especially beneficial for continuous recording.

PoE makes installation easier

The camera can be powered by either 12 V DC or PoE according to IEEE 802.3af. When using PoE, both power and network data can be carried through the same network cable.

This means that normally only one cable needs to be run to the camera when connecting it to a compatible PoE switch or PoE recorder.

Metal housing and IP67

The camera’s front, housing and bracket are made of metal. It is IP67-rated and can be used both indoors and outdoors at temperatures from -30 °C to +60 °C.

The datasheet states that the model does not have special corrosion protection. The camera is therefore intended for areas where no special corrosion protection requirements apply.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.

Avoid losing recordings with AutomaticNetwork R eplenishment.
If there are network problems, the camera stores the recordings on an SD- card - and then sends them to the recorder when the connection is stable again.
