8 MP AcuSense with DarkFighter and built-in microphone

DS-2CD2086G2H-IU combines 8 MP / 4K resolution with a large 1/1.8" image sensor, F1.0 aperture, and DarkFighter. This makes the camera well suited for locations where you want both plenty of detail and good images in difficult lighting conditions. At the same time, you get AcuSense for classifying people and vehicles, plus a built-in microphone so sound can be recorded together with the video.

8 MP delivers a detailed 4K image

The camera has a maximum resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, which corresponds to 8 MP / 4K. The high resolution provides lots of image detail and gives you great opportunities to see smaller details in recordings.

At 50 Hz, the camera can deliver up to 25 frames per second at full 4K resolution. This makes the camera well suited for general video surveillance where both overview and detail matter.

AcuSense focuses on people and vehicles

Hikvision AcuSense uses Deep Learning to classify people and vehicles. This means the camera can focus alarms on the target types that are usually most relevant in video surveillance.

For example, it can be used at a driveway, around a building, or in another monitored area where you mainly want to react to people and vehicles.

Line crossing and monitoring specific areas

DS-2CD2086G2H-IU supports line crossing, intrusion, region entrance, and region exiting. These functions can trigger alarms based on the specified target types: people and vehicles.

For example, you can create a virtual line at a driveway or gate and register when a person or vehicle crosses it. You can also define a specific area and register relevant targets when they move into or out of the area.

DarkFighter for very low light

DarkFighter is Hikvision’s technology for surveillance in very low light conditions. DS-2CD2086G2H-IU is specified down to 0.0008 lux in color at F1.0.

The camera’s large 1/1.8" image sensor and bright F1.0 aperture help make use of the available light. This is an advantage in places where, for example, there is only a little light from outdoor lighting or other light sources.

When there is no longer enough light, the camera can switch to black and white and use the built-in IR illumination.

Built-in microphone

The IU version has a built-in microphone, so sound can be recorded together with the video without needing a separate microphone.

The camera also supports filtering out background noise. This is practical in places where you want both picture and sound as part of the recording.

Up to 40 meters of IR in the dark

The camera has built-in 850 nm IR illumination with a range of up to 40 meters. This means the camera can continue monitoring in complete darkness, where the IR illumination is used to create a black-and-white image.

Smart Supplement Light helps control the camera’s supplementary IR illumination.

Choose between 2.8 mm and 4 mm lens

DS-2CD2086G2H-IU is available with either a 2.8 mm or 4 mm fixed lens. The main difference is how wide an area the camera shows.

2.8 mm provides an approximate 105° horizontal field of view and is the wider of the two versions. It is a great fit for entrances, terraces, courtyards, and other areas where you want a broad overview.

4 mm provides an approximate 90° horizontal field of view. Here, the image becomes more focused forward, which can be an advantage at driveways, gates, and passageways.

Better image in challenging backlight

The camera handles areas with both strong light and dark sections, giving you a more balanced image in situations such as backlight. This can be relevant at an entrance with daylight in the background or in an outdoor area where parts of the image are in sun and others in shade.

The camera also supports BLC, HLC, and 3D DNR for further image adjustment.

Face Capture

DS-2CD2086G2H-IU supports Face Capture, so the camera can detect faces in the image and take pictures of them when they are detected.

Face Capture should not be confused with facial recognition. The datasheet lists Face Capture, but not identification of specific people against a face database.

How far can the camera see?

The DORI values provide a standardized indication of how far from the camera different levels of detail can be expected in the image.

With 2.8 mm, the values are approximately 89 meters for Detect, 35 meters for Observe, 17 meters for Recognize, and 8 meters for Identify.

With 4 mm, the values are approximately 109 meters for Detect, 43 meters for Observe, 21 meters for Recognize, and 10 meters for Identify.

DORI describes the level of detail in the image and should not be confused with the camera’s IR range, which is up to 40 meters.

Supports SD cards up to 512 GB

DS-2CD2086G2H-IU supports SD cards up to 512 GB, so recordings can be stored directly in the camera. The camera also supports network storage via NAS.

This gives you the option of using local storage in the camera or combining the camera with other forms of network-based recording.

H.265+ reduces storage use

The camera supports H.265+, H.265, H.264+, and H.264. H.265+ is designed to reduce the amount of video data that needs to be stored and transmitted over the network.

This is especially relevant with an 8 MP camera, since the high resolution would otherwise require more storage space and bandwidth.

PoE makes installation easier

DS-2CD2086G2H-IU can be powered by either 12 V DC or PoE according to IEEE 802.3af. When using PoE, both power and network data can be carried through the same network cable.

This usually means that only one cable needs to be run to the camera when it is connected to a compatible PoE switch or PoE recorder.

Metal housing and IP67

The camera’s front, housing, and bracket are made of metal. The camera is IP67-rated and can be used both indoors and outdoors at temperatures from -30 °C to +60 °C.

The datasheet states that the model does not have special corrosion protection. The camera is therefore intended for areas where no special corrosion protection is required.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.
