This is one of the coolest and smartest cameras on the market. The surveillance camera is from Hikvision's AcuSense family, which means it's especially suited to send notifications to your phone about people and vehicles. As you can see in the video below, the camera's specialty is distinguishing between people, vehicles and unimportant objects. (continued below the video...)
About the camera
The camera can be used both indoors and outdoors as it is IP67 rated, provided you also fit the included membrane. An SD card can be installed in the camera, which is accessed with the included tool (SD card (memory card not included, but can be bought here)). Screws, wall plugs and a drilling template are included — the template sticks to concrete or brick so you know exactly where to drill. The camera can be mounted in any orientation, like a 3-axis camera. It can be connected directly to your Hikvision recorder or NAS, but it can also work standalone with an SD card (memory card). Once the SD card is inserted, the camera records video directly to the card and it can be played back straight from the APP, so you don't need to remove it. The camera can monitor the health status of the SD card.
There are different types of AcuSense cameras, but what they have in common is the suffix at the end of the model number.
The model name tells you which features the camera has if it ends with:
- DS-2CDXXX6G2-I = Standard with infrared night vision
- DS-2CDXXX6G2-IU = With infrared night vision and microphone
- DS-2CDXXX6G2-ISU = With infrared night vision, microphone, alarm input and output
- DS-2CDXXX6G2-ISU/SL = With infrared night vision, microphone, alarm input and output, plus white strobe light and speaker
About the lens
The camera is available with different lenses and the lens affects the FOV (Field Of View).
A 2.8 mm lens gives a horizontal FOV of 103°, vertical FOV 55° and diagonal FOV 123°.
A 4 mm lens gives a horizontal FOV of 83°, vertical FOV 45° and diagonal FOV 98°.
About AcuSense
Although the camera is smart, it still needs input from you. After installation you can choose from several types of "smart events", including "Intrusion detection", where you draw a box on the image and if a target moves into the box and stays longer than your allowed time (1–10 seconds), your configured "reaction" is triggered. There is also line crossing detection, which detects whether a "target" crosses the line you have drawn. It can be set for both directions or only one. For example, it can be used on one-way streets to trigger an alarm for driving the wrong way, or in a driveway so you only get notified when people arrive, not when they leave.

What is a reaction? The event that is triggered when a rule is broken is called a "reaction". Depending on the model you choose, you have different options.
Most used "reactions":
- Push notification to your phone (receive an image directly to your phone of the target that violated the rule, with a link to play the clip in the APP)
- Send email (use this function with care — email providers may close your account for suspected spamming if too many images are sent)
- Flash white light
- Warning sound (siren or voice alert — you can also record your own messages)*
- Alarm output (open a garage door, turn on lights, send a signal to your alarm system, integrate with IHC, etc.)
To get all functions you must choose models where the model number ends with ISU/SL
Most cameras in the AcuSense series are available in 4 and 8 Megapixel (2K and 4K)
If the camera is connected to a newer recorder, you can also make "combined" reactions. That means another given rule must be violated before the "reaction" is triggered (AND logic). Practically, this allows you to "combine" with an "alarm input" so the camera only sends notifications if the alarm is armed or a motion sensor is triggered. This way the system can be integrated into the building's systems.

No power supply is included with the camera because most users simply use a PoE switch, but if you don't already have power for the camera you can choose one of the following options:

Mounting
The camera can be mounted directly on a wall or on the ceiling/soffit. A back box/mount may be necessary if the junction can't be hidden behind the wall, ceiling or soffit.
If your AcuSense camera will be mounted on a pole, you'll also need a pole mount. Model numbers for the mount and pole mount can be found in the datasheet.
NB: REMEMBER TO SELECT NETWORK CABLES IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE THEM — YOU'LL NEED TWO: A LONG ONE FROM THE CAMERA TO THE POE INJECTOR (USUALLY PLACED BY THE ROUTER) AND A SHORT ONE FROM THE POE INJECTOR TO THE ROUTER. CHOOSE CABLE!
