The long and exciting description

This is one of the coolest and smartest cameras on the market. The surveillance camera is part of Hikvision's AcuSense family, which means it has artificial intelligence and can send you notifications to your phone if it detects people or vehicles. As you can see in the video below, the camera's specialty is distinguishing between people, vehicles and uninteresting objects.

There are different types of AcuSense cameras, but what they all have in common is the suffix at the end of the model number.

The model name tells you which features the camera has.

If it ends in:

• DS-2CDXXX6G2-I = Standard with infrared night vision
• DS-2CDXXX6G2-IU = With infrared night vision and microphone
• DS-2CDXXX6G2-ISU = With infrared night vision, microphone, alarm input and output
• DS-2CDXXX6G2-ISU/SL = With infrared night vision, microphone, alarm input and output, plus white strobe light and speaker

About the lens
The camera is available with several lenses and the lens affects the "FOV" (Field Of View), or in Danish: viewing angle.
A 2.8 mm lens gives a horizontal (width) FOV of 111°, vertical (height) FOV 59° and a diagonal (corner-to-corner) FOV of 131°
A 4 mm lens gives a horizontal (width) FOV of 87°, vertical (height) FOV 47° and a diagonal FOV of 102°

If you look at other camera models, it's always smart to check the datasheet to see the FOV for the different lenses. The principles are the same regardless of model, but the viewing angle/FOV can vary.

What is a reaction? The event that is triggered when a rule is violated is called a "reaction". Depending on which model you choose, you have different options.
Most used "reactions":

• Push notification to your mobile (receive an image sent directly to your phone of the object that triggered the rule, with a link for direct playback in the app)
• Send email (use this function with caution, as email providers may suspend your account for suspected spam if too many images are sent)
• Flash with white light
• Warning sound (siren or voice alert — you can also record your own messages)*
• Alarm output (open a garage door, turn on lights, send a signal to your alarm system, interact with IHC etc.)

To have all functions you must choose models whose model number ends with ISU/SL

Most cameras in the AcuSense series are available in 4 and 8 Megapixels, also called 2K and 4K respectively

If the camera is connected to a newer recorder, you can create "combined" reactions. That means another given rule must also be violated before the "reaction" is triggered (AND-logic). Practically, this means you can, for example, "combine" with an "alarm input" so the camera only sends alerts when the alarm is armed, or when a motion sensor is triggered. That way the system can be integrated into the building's systems.

A power supply is not included with the camera, since most users use a PoE switch. If you don't already have a PoE switch, you can power the camera with one of the following:

Mounting bracket
The camera can be mounted directly on a wall or in the ceiling/overhang. A junction box/bracket may be necessary if the connection cannot sit behind the wall, ceiling or overhang.
If your AcuSense camera will be mounted on a pole, you'll also need a pole mount. The model numbers for the bracket and pole mount can be found in the datasheet.

Note: REMEMBER TO CHOOSE NETWORK CABLES IF YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE THEM — YOU'LL NEED TWO: A LONG ONE FROM THE CAMERA TO THE POE INJECTOR (TYPICALLY PLACED BY THE ROUTER) AND A SHORT ONE FROM THE POE INJECTOR TO THE ROUTER. CHOOSE CABLE!
