4 MP AXIS dome camera with motorized zoom and Deep Learning

AXIS M4216-LV combines 4 MP video with a varifocal 3-6 mm lens that can be adjusted with remote zoom and focus. The camera’s built-in Deep Learning Processing Unit also makes it possible to analyze the video image directly in the camera.

Motorized zoom from 3 to 6 mm

The varifocal lens can be adjusted from 3 to 6 mm with remote zoom and focus. This means you can adapt the image after installation without having to adjust focus manually at the camera itself.

At 3 mm, you get the widest horizontal viewing angle of about 100°, which is ideal when you want a broad overview. At 6 mm, the viewing angle is about 45°, so the image becomes more focused on a smaller area further away.

AI detection of people and vehicles

AXIS Object Analytics can detect and classify people and vehicles. Among vehicles, the camera can distinguish between cars, buses, trucks, and bicycles.

The analytics can be used for line crossing, detection of objects in a specific area, dwell time, counting at a line, and detection of the number of objects in an area, among other things. The camera supports up to 10 analytics scenarios.

Lightfinder for areas with low light

AXIS Lightfinder helps the camera deliver color images when there is only a little light in the area. The camera is rated at 0.18 lux in color and 0.03 lux in black and white under the specified measurement conditions.

When it gets completely dark, the camera’s built-in IR illumination can be used for continued surveillance.

OptimizedIR for surveillance in the dark

AXIS M4216-LV has built-in OptimizedIR with a range of 20 meters or more depending on the area. With IR illumination activated, the camera can record at 0 lux.

This means the camera can monitor in complete darkness without the need for normal lighting.

WDR up to 110 dB

WDR helps the camera preserve detail when there are both very bright and dark areas in the same image. This can be useful, for example, at entrances and windows, where strong daylight from outside can make it difficult to see details inside.

AXIS M4216-LV supports WDR up to 110 dB depending on the scene.

HDMI directly to a screen

The camera has an HDMI Type D output, so video can be shown directly on a compatible screen. This can be used, for example, for a public monitor where visitors or customers can see that the area is under video surveillance.

The HDMI output supports 1080p at 25/30 Hz and 720p at 50/60 Hz.

Support for audio and external equipment

AXIS M4216-LV does not have standard audio and I/O connections directly on the camera, but these functions can be added through the AXIS T61 Audio and I/O Interface Series with Portcast technology.

This provides, among other things, the option for two-way communication and connection of external equipment if the installation requires it.

Supports SD cards

The camera supports microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards, so recordings can be stored directly at the camera. SD card encryption is also available.

Recordings can also be stored on compatible network storage such as a NAS.

Zipstream reduces storage needs

AXIS Zipstream works with H.264 and H.265 and is designed to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements while preserving relevant details in the video image.

This can be especially useful for continuous recording or installations with multiple cameras.

AXIS Live Privacy Shield

The camera supports AXIS Live Privacy Shield when using the 16:9 aspect ratio. This function can be used to mask relevant parts of the video image when privacy protection is needed.

AXIS Edge Vault

AXIS Edge Vault is the camera’s hardware-based security platform. It protects, among other things, the camera’s identity and cryptographic information and supports features such as Secure Boot, Signed OS, secure key storage, and Signed Video.

PoE makes installation easier

The camera supports PoE, so both power and network connection can be supplied through the same network cable. Typical power consumption is 5 W, while maximum power consumption is 9.7 W.

For indoor use

AXIS M4216-LV is IP42-rated and intended for installation under the specified indoor operating conditions. The camera is also IK08-rated against mechanical impacts.

Power over Ethernet
