Thermal PTZ camera with 30x optical zoom and intelligent video analytics
MIC IP fusion 9000i is designed for surveillance where long range and high operational reliability are important. The camera can display both a thermal image and a normal video image at the same time, giving the operator two different ways to detect and assess an incident.
Thermal camera sees temperature differences
The thermal camera has a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels and delivers up to 30 frames per second. It uses an uncooled vanadium oxide microbolometer and a fixed 9 mm thermal lens with a field of view of 70° × 52°.
A thermal camera does not depend on visible light in the same way as a traditional camera. That makes it well suited for detecting people and other objects in the dark, as well as in conditions where the normal camera image may be limited.
Thermal DRI range
Bosch states DRI distances for the thermal 9 mm lens under ideal conditions. For a person measuring 1.8 × 0.5 meters, the calculated detection distance is up to 174 meters, recognition up to 43 meters, and identification up to 22 meters.
For an object measuring 2.3 × 2.3 meters, the corresponding distances are up to 800 meters for detection, 200 meters for recognition, and 100 meters for identification. The DRI values are standardized calculated values and should not be regarded as a guarantee of the same distance in all practical conditions.
2 MP Starlight camera with 30x optical zoom
Next to the thermal camera is a regular 2 MP camera with Bosch Starlight technology. It delivers Full HD video at up to 1920 × 1080 pixels and is designed to provide usable images in very low light.
The motorized lens ranges from 4.3 to 129 mm and provides 30x optical zoom. The field of view can be adjusted from around 64.7° to 2.3°, so the camera can be used both for overview and for examining details at long distance.
30x optical zoom
With optical zoom, the camera changes the lens itself instead of just enlarging pixels in the image. This makes it possible to get significantly closer to people, vehicles, and other details without relying only on digital zoom.
The visible camera also has 12x digital zoom, autofocus, and automatic iris.
Metadata Fusion combines the two cameras
A special feature of MIC IP fusion 9000i is Metadata Fusion. This feature makes it possible to receive information about detected events from both the thermal and the normal camera, even if the operator is only viewing one video stream.
If the thermal camera, for example, detects an object that is difficult to see in the normal image, the event can still be shown to the operator. You can then switch to the thermal image and examine the incident more closely.
Intelligent Video Analytics on both images
The camera’s Intelligent Video Analytics can work with both the thermal and the visible image. The system can, among other things, detect objects in areas, line crossing, loitering, movement direction, and different forms of counting.
The analytics can classify objects as people, bicycles, cars, and trucks. It can also filter by size, speed, direction, and shape, so alarms can be adapted to the monitored area.
Analytics while the PTZ camera is moving
Video analytics on the visible camera can continue while the camera is moving. This means the camera can detect objects in defined alarm areas while, for example, it is running an automatic patrol.
This is especially useful in large areas where one PTZ camera needs to continuously monitor several different zones.
Intelligent Tracking
When video analytics detects a relevant person or object, the camera can automatically activate Intelligent Tracking and use the PTZ functions to follow the object.
In Auto mode, the camera can follow objects that trigger an alarm. In Click mode, the operator can select a detected object in the image and make the camera follow it automatically.
Continuous 360° rotation
The camera can rotate continuously through 360° and has a pan speed from 0.2° to 120° per second. The tilt range is up to 292°, and the camera can move at up to 90° per second on the tilt axis.
Up to 256 preset positions can be stored. The camera also supports automatic tours between positions as well as two user-recorded tours with a total of up to 30 minutes of movement.
Image stabilization
The visible camera has image stabilization, which helps compensate for vibrations in the installation. This is especially relevant at high zoom, where even small movements in the mast or camera mount otherwise become very noticeable in the image.
The function corrects movement both horizontally and vertically, helping keep the image more stable.
Wiper and defroster
The camera has an integrated silicone wiper that can remove water and moisture from both the normal glass window and the thermal germanium window.
Both windows also have a built-in defroster, which reduces issues with ice and snow in cold environments. The camera can also be combined with a separate washer system.
Designed for demanding outdoor installations
The camera housing is made of cast aluminum and is built for areas with strong wind, vibration, rain, snow, dust, and large temperature fluctuations.
With correct mounting, the camera can achieve IP66/IP68 and Type 6P. The housing is also IK10-rated against mechanical impacts, except for the camera windows.
Operation from -40 °C to +65 °C
The camera has a specified operating temperature range from -40 °C to +65 °C and can operate at humidity levels of up to 100%.
For cold start at -40 °C, around 60 minutes of warm-up is required before the PTZ functions can be used.
Built for strong wind
The camera is designed for sustained wind speeds of up to 160 km/h and gusts of up to 241 km/h.
The closed positioning system also helps the camera know its exact position, so it can return to the correct direction after being affected by, for example, strong wind.
Built-in local storage
The camera has 16 GB of internal eMMC storage. Bosch states a minimum of four hours of local recording at maximum frame rate with both thermal video, regular video, metadata, and audio.
The local storage can be used, among other things, for edge recording and Automatic Network Replenishment, where recordings can help fill in missing data after a network interruption.
Two-way communication
The camera supports two-way full duplex audio via line-in and line-out. This makes it possible to integrate an external microphone and speaker in installations where audio communication is needed.
High PoE or 24 V AC
The camera can be powered by 95 W High PoE or 24 V AC. With High PoE, power, network, and control can be carried through the network connection.
High PoE and 24 V AC can also be connected at the same time. If one power supply fails, the camera can automatically switch to the other.
