PTZ camera with 25x optical zoom and Auto Tracking

DH-SD5A225GB-HNR has a motorized 4.8-120 mm lens with 25x optical zoom. Together with the PTZ function, this means the camera can both provide an overview of a larger area and zoom in on people, vehicles, or other incidents far from the camera.

The camera can pan continuously 360° and tilt from -15° to +90°. With auto flip, the camera can continue moving when a target passes below the camera’s position.

25x optical zoom for long distances

The lens ranges from 4.8 mm in wide position to 120 mm at maximum telephoto. The horizontal field of view changes from approximately 58.5° to just 2.8°.

By zooming optically, the image pixels are concentrated into a much smaller area. This gives significantly more detail on a distant object than a standard digital enlargement of an already captured image.

The camera also offers up to 16x digital zoom, but the 25x optical zoom is the most important feature when you need real image detail at longer distances.

Auto Tracking follows people and vehicles

The camera supports automatic tracking, where the pan, tilt, and zoom functions are used to follow a moving target and try to keep it in the frame.

Tracking can be started manually or triggered automatically by defined rules. When a relevant event is detected, the camera can rotate, zoom in, and follow the person or vehicle instead of just staying in its original position.

SMD 4.0 reduces unnecessary motion alarms

SMD 4.0 uses Deep Learning to classify the objects that trigger a motion event. The system can focus on people and vehicles and filter out other types of movement.

This helps reduce unnecessary alarms from, for example, animals and other motion that is not relevant to surveillance.

AI-based perimeter protection

WizSense perimeter protection supports tripwire and intrusion, as well as classification of people and vehicles. The camera can therefore react to relevant objects that, for example, cross a defined line or move into a specific area.

It also supports functions such as detecting people staying in an area, fast movement, parking, crowds, and abandoned or removed objects.

AcuPick makes it easier to find events

The camera supports AcuPick, which uses Deep Learning together with compatible backend devices to find people and motor vehicles in live video and recordings.

This can make it faster to find a specific person or vehicle in large amounts of video. The full AcuPick search requires compatible Dahua equipment on the backend side.

Video Metadata provides more information about objects

The camera supports Video Metadata and can detect, among other things, motor vehicles, other vehicles, faces, and people. It can track objects, take snapshots, and extract various attributes from detected motor vehicles.

Metadata can be used together with a compatible surveillance system to make recordings and detected events easier to organize and search through.

Face detection and snapshots

The camera supports face detection and can detect faces, take snapshots, and select the best image from several captures. It also supports extraction of various facial attributes and expressions.

This feature should not be confused with actual identification of people against a face database. The supplied datasheet describes face detection, snapshots, and extraction of attributes, but not standalone identification of people against a database in the camera.

People counting and queue analysis

The camera also supports people counting. Among other things, it can count people entering and leaving an area, register the number of people staying in a specific area, and be used for queue analysis.

Reports can be displayed and exported by day, week, and month.

Starlight for very low light

Dahua Starlight is designed to deliver usable images in very low light. The camera’s light sensitivity is listed as 0.005 lux in color and 0.0005 lux in black and white at F1.6.

This means the camera can make use of very limited existing light. When there is no longer enough light, the camera can use the built-in IR illumination.

Smart IR up to 150 meters

The camera has four built-in IR light sources and an IR range of up to 150 meters. This allows surveillance in complete darkness over significant distances.

Smart IR and zoom-priority control help adjust the illumination to the camera’s current zoom level, so the IR light better matches the area the camera is viewing.

120 dB WDR and image stabilization

The camera has 120 dB WDR, which helps in scenes with big differences between bright and dark areas. This can be especially useful at gates, entrances, or areas with strong light sources in the background.

It also supports electronic image stabilization, 2D/3D noise reduction, and electronic defog. Image stabilization can be useful in outdoor installations where wind or vibration may affect the camera.

Fast PTZ movement and up to 300 presets

When controlled manually, the camera can pan at up to 300° per second and tilt at up to 200° per second. With presets, the speed can reach 400° and 300° per second respectively.

Up to 300 presets can be saved. The camera also supports 8 tours with up to 32 presets per tour, 5 patterns, and 5 scans. This makes it possible to create automatic patrols between different areas.

How far can the camera see?

Dahua specifies the DORI distances at approximately 1,614 meters for detection, 646 meters for observation, 323 meters for recognition, and 161 meters for identification.

DORI is a standardized method according to EN 62676-4 and describes the expected image detail based on how many pixels an object occupies. The long distances are linked to the camera’s 120 mm telephoto setting.

The DORI figures are not the same as the IR range or the range of the camera’s intelligent functions. The built-in IR illumination is specified for up to 150 meters, and Dahua specifically states that the DORI values do not reflect the working distance of the AI functions.

Supports SD cards up to 512 GB

The camera supports SD cards with a capacity of up to 512 GB, so video can be stored locally. Storage via FTP and NAS is also supported.

The camera can deliver up to three video streams and supports H.265, H.264, Smart H.265+, and Smart H.264+ among others.

Two-way communication option

The camera has one audio input and one audio output and supports two-way communication with connected external audio equipment.

No built-in microphone or speaker is listed in the datasheet, so a microphone and speaker must be connected externally if audio functions are to be used.

The camera also has two alarm inputs and one alarm output for integration with external devices.

PoE+ or 24 V DC

DH-SD5A225GB-HNR can be powered by PoE+ or 24 V DC. With PoE+, power and network data can run through the same network cable.

A 24 V DC / 2.5 A power supply is listed as included together with the PFB305W wall mount. The maximum power consumption is stated as 22 W when, among other things, IR, PTZ, heater, and fan are active.

IP67 and IK10 for outdoor use

The camera is rated both IP67 and IK10. IP67 protects against dust and water, while IK10 provides high protection against mechanical impact.

The operating temperature ranges from -40 °C all the way up to +70 °C. The camera also has TVS 6000 V lightning protection, as well as protection against surges and voltage transients.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.

Audio Trigger

Univiews cameras with microphone can also respond to what they don't see. For example, it can be cries or screaming on a women's toilet if you place the camera outside the door.

PTZ

Stands for Pan, Tilt and Zoom and means the camera can turn right and left, up and down and zoom in to get the best pictures.
You can control it from your mobile, computer or even a joystick. The camera can also be set to constantly patrol between fixed points.

Autotracking

PTZ cameras may have built-in intelligence and keep an eye for you. If something happens that the camera assesses is interesting, it will immediately zoom in and follow the object.
