4 MP PTZ camera with 45x optical zoom and Auto Tracking

The DH-SD5A445GB-HNR has a motorized 3.95-177.75 mm lens with 45x optical zoom. The camera can pan continuously 360° and tilt from -15° to +90°, so it can cover different areas from the same location.

The PTZ function can be controlled manually, but the camera can also work automatically with presets, tours, patterns and scanning. Combined with Auto Tracking, the camera can also follow a detected event when the relevant rules have been configured.

45x optical zoom for very long distances

The 45x optical zoom is one of the camera’s key features. The lens goes from 3.95 mm in wide position all the way up to 177.75 mm at maximum telephoto.

The horizontal field of view ranges from about 70.3° down to just 1.8°. When zooming in, the image pixels are therefore concentrated on a very small area, making it possible to show people, vehicles and other objects far from the camera with far more detail.

This is optical zoom, which means the lens physically changes focal length. That provides significantly better detail than simply enlarging an existing image digitally. The camera also offers up to 16x digital zoom.

Auto Tracking follows an event

The camera supports Auto Tracking, where the pan, tilt and zoom functions are used to automatically follow a moving object and try to keep it in view.

Tracking can be started manually or activated through defined rules. When a rule is triggered, the camera can turn toward the target, zoom in and keep following the movement.

WizSense perimeter protection

The camera’s perimeter protection uses intelligent functions to make detection more accurate. It supports, among other things, tripwire and intrusion, as well as classification of people and vehicles.

In addition, it includes functions such as detection of fence climbing, lingering in an area, rapid movement, parking, crowds, and abandoned or removed objects.

The goal is to reduce unnecessary alarms from, for example, animals, moving leaves and sudden changes in light, and to respond more strongly to the objects that matter for surveillance.

SMD 4.0 focuses on people and vehicles

SMD 4.0 uses intelligent algorithms to classify objects that trigger motion alarms. The function can focus on people and vehicles and filter out other objects that might otherwise create unnecessary events.

This makes motion detection more useful than traditional detection, where almost any major change in the image can trigger an alarm.

Quick Pick makes it easier to search recordings

Together with a compatible Dahua AI NVR, Quick Pick can be used to find people and vehicles in recordings faster based on SMD events.

The system can prioritize the results that match best, so you don’t have to go through long recordings manually to find the relevant event.

Face detection and snapshots

The camera supports face detection and can, among other things, follow detected faces, take snapshots and optimize the images that are stored. It can also extract different attributes and facial expressions from a detected face.

This function should not be confused with actual identification of people against a face database. The datasheet provided describes face detection, snapshots and extraction of attributes, but not standalone identification of people against a database in the camera.

Starlight for very low light

Dahua Starlight is designed to preserve usable images in very low light. The camera’s light sensitivity is specified as 0.005 lux in color and 0.0005 lux in black and white at F1.6.

This means the camera can make use of very limited available light. When there is no longer enough light, the camera can switch to the built-in IR illumination.

Smart IR up to 150 meters

The camera has four built-in IR light sources with a specified range of up to 150 meters. This makes it possible to monitor in complete darkness over significant distances.

The IR illumination can work with zoom priority and Smart IR, so the lighting is better adapted to the camera’s current field of view and zoom level.

120 dB WDR for difficult lighting conditions

With 120 dB WDR, the camera can handle areas with large differences between bright and dark parts of the same scene. This is useful, for example, at driveways, gates or areas with strong sunlight and shadows.

The camera also includes HLC, 2D/3D noise reduction and electronic defog for further image optimization.

Electronic image stabilization

Electronic image stabilization, EIS, can help reduce visible vibration in the video. This is especially relevant for a PTZ camera with strong optical zoom, since even minor vibrations can become more noticeable when zoomed in far.

Fast PTZ movement and 300 presets

When controlled manually, the camera can pan at up to 300° per second and tilt at up to 200° per second. When moving to a saved preset, the speed can reach up to 400° per second for panning and 300° per second for tilt.

Up to 300 presets can be saved. The camera also supports 8 tours with up to 32 presets per tour, 5 patterns and 5 scans. This gives you great options for letting the camera patrol automatically between selected areas.

How far can the camera see?

With the powerful telephoto setting, Dahua specifies the DORI distances at approximately 3,555 meters for detection, 1,404 meters for observation, 711 meters for recognition and 355.5 meters for identification.

DORI is a standardized method for describing the expected level of detail in the image. The very long distances are due to the camera’s 177.75 mm telephoto setting and do not mean that the camera’s IR illumination or AI functions work at the same distance.

The built-in IR illumination is specified for up to 150 meters. The DORI values should therefore be viewed as values for image detail, not as the camera’s illumination or AI range.

Supports SD cards up to 512 GB

The camera supports SD cards with a capacity of up to 512 GB, so recordings can be stored locally. In addition, storage via FTP and NAS is supported.

Video compression includes H.265, H.264, Smart H.265+ and Smart H.264+, and the camera can deliver up to three video streams with different settings.

Option for external audio

The camera has one audio input and one audio output for connecting external audio equipment. The datasheet does not specify a built-in microphone or speaker.

There are also two alarm inputs and one alarm output, so the camera can be integrated with external sensors or other devices.

PoE+ or 24 V DC

The camera can be powered by PoE+ or 24 V DC. With PoE+, power and network data can be carried through the same network cable.

A 24 V DC / 2.5 A power supply is listed as included. The camera’s maximum power consumption is 22 W with, among other things, IR, heater and fan active.

IP67 and IK10 for outdoor installation

The DH-SD5A445GB-HNR is IP67-rated against dust and water and IK10-rated against mechanical impact. This makes the camera suitable for exposed outdoor locations.

The operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +70 °C. The camera also has TVS 6000 V lightning protection as well as protection against surge and voltage transients.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.

Audio Trigger

Univiews cameras with microphone can also respond to what they don't see. For example, it can be cries or screaming on a women's toilet if you place the camera outside the door.

Autotracking

PTZ cameras may have built-in intelligence and keep an eye for you. If something happens that the camera assesses is interesting, it will immediately zoom in and follow the object.
