NBE-3703-AL is well suited for buildings, entrances, parking areas, courtyards, and other areas where you want both a detailed image and automatic detection of people and vehicles. The motorized lens makes it possible to adjust the field of view after installation.

5 MP provides more detail in the image

The camera has a 1/2.7" CMOS sensor with a resolution of up to 2592 × 1944 pixels. This gives you a detailed image, with better ability to see smaller details than with a traditional Full HD camera.

The camera can record at up to 30 frames per second and supports, among other things, H.265 and H.264 video compression.

Motorized zoom from 3.3 to 10.2 mm

The motorized lens ranges from 3.3 to 10.2 mm. Zoom and focus can be controlled electronically, so you can adjust the image without having to manually adjust the lens at the camera.

At 3.3 mm, you get a wide horizontal field of view of about 101°, which is ideal when the camera needs to cover a larger area close to the camera. If you zoom in to 10.2 mm, the field of view becomes about 30°, so the camera can instead focus on a smaller area farther away.

IVA Pro Buildings detects people and vehicles

The camera comes with Bosch IVA Pro Buildings. This is a Deep Learning-based video analytics solution that can detect, classify, and track people and vehicles in the image.

The advantage is that the camera does not need to react to every movement. The analytics is designed to handle challenges such as rain, snow, hail, moving trees, shadows, insects, and reflections from water. This can result in fewer irrelevant alarms than with standard motion detection.

More than standard motion detection

The video analytics can be used for several different surveillance tasks. You can, among other things, set up rules for line crossing, people or vehicles in a specific area, entering and leaving areas, loitering, counting, and occupancy.

Up to 16 alarm rules can be used at the same time. Objects can also be filtered by, among other things, size, direction, duration, and color.

IR up to 30 meters

When it gets dark, the camera’s built-in 850 nm IR illumination can be used for surveillance at distances of up to 30 meters. The camera switches between day and night mode and can record in complete darkness using IR.

The IR intensity can be adjusted so the lighting can be adapted to the area the camera is monitoring.

HDR helps in challenging lighting conditions

The camera has HDR up to 120 dB. This is useful in areas where there are both very bright and very dark parts of the image.

For example, this can be at an entrance where daylight outside is directly behind a person. HDR helps preserve more detail in both the bright and dark areas.

How far can the camera see?

How far you can recognize details depends, among other things, on the zoom setting. Bosch specifies DORI values for both the lens’s wide and zoomed positions.

At 3.3 mm, the calculated distances are about 42 meters for detection, 17 meters for observation, 9 meters for recognition, and 4 meters for identification.

At 10.2 mm, the calculated distances increase to about 193 meters for detection, 77 meters for observation, 39 meters for recognition, and 19 meters for identification.

DORI is standardized values based on the number of pixels on an object. They therefore say something different from the camera’s IR range and are not a guarantee of the same level of detail under all lighting and weather conditions. Bosch also states that these DORI figures do not indicate the range of the IVA video analytics.

Supports SD cards

The camera supports microSDHC and microSDXC cards with up to 2 TB of local storage. It can be used for continuous recording, scheduled recordings, or recording on alarms and events.

Bosch also supports condition monitoring of compatible industrial SD cards, so the system can provide an early indication if the card starts to require service or replacement.

H.265 reduces bandwidth needs

NBE-3703-AL supports H.265, H.264, and MJPEG as well as Bosch Intelligent Streaming. The camera’s video analytics can be used together with video compression, so more data is used on relevant parts of the image and less on areas without significant activity.

This can reduce both network load and storage needs.

PoE makes installation easier

The camera supports PoE according to IEEE 802.3af/802.3at Type 1. This means that both power and network connection can be carried through the same network cable.

The typical power consumption is listed as 3.24 W and the maximum as 7.72 W.

Protected against weather and mechanical impact

NBE-3703-AL is IP66-rated and designed for outdoor installation. IP66 means the housing is protected against dust and strong water jets.

The camera is also IK10-rated, which provides a high level of protection against mechanical impact. The operating temperature range is -30 °C to +50 °C.

Security built into the camera

The camera has a built-in Secure Element with Trusted Platform Module functionality. This is used, among other things, for secure storage of certificates and cryptographic keys.

In addition, it supports Secure Boot, signed firmware, encrypted local storage, and TLS 1.2/1.3. This provides an extra layer of security around access to the camera and the data sent over the network.

Power over Ethernet
