5 MP Bosch bullet camera with Starlight, AI and motorized zoom

NBE-5703-AL is well suited for use at buildings, parking areas, driveways, industrial sites and perimeter surveillance. The combination of 5 MP, motorized zoom and Bosch Starlight makes it possible to capture detailed images in very different lighting conditions, while the built-in video analytics can be used to automatically detect relevant events.

5 MP provides a detailed surveillance image

The camera has a 1/2.7" CMOS sensor with a resolution of up to 2592 × 1944 pixels. The high resolution helps preserve more detail in the image, which is especially useful when a larger area needs to be covered.

NBE-5703-AL can record at up to 30 frames per second and supports, among other things, H.265 and H.264 video compression.

Motorized zoom from 3.2 to 10.5 mm

The motorized lens ranges from 3.2 to 10.5 mm, and both zoom and focus can be adjusted electronically. This makes installation easier, since the field of view can be adjusted without opening the camera and manually changing the lens.

At 3.2 mm, you get a wide horizontal field of view of around 96°, which is well suited for creating an overview of a larger area. At 10.5 mm, the field of view is around 29°, so the camera can instead focus on a smaller area farther away.

Starlight delivers better images in low light

Bosch Starlight technology is designed for surveillance in areas where only very little light is available. The camera’s light sensitivity is stated as 0.044 lux in color and 0.010 lux in black and white.

This means the camera can make use of even limited existing lighting to create a usable image. When there is no longer enough light, the camera’s built-in IR illumination can take over.

Intelligent IR up to 60 meters

The camera has built-in 850 nm IR illumination with a range of up to 60 meters. The IR light can be automatically adjusted to suit the scene, so objects close to the camera are not unnecessarily overexposed.

With IR activated, the camera can record at 0 lux. This makes it possible to monitor areas without regular lighting at night.

IVA Pro Buildings detects people and vehicles

NBE-5703-AL comes with Bosch IVA Pro Buildings. The analytics uses Deep Learning to detect, classify and track people and vehicles.

The system is designed to filter out many common causes of false alarms, such as rain, snow, hail, shadows, insects, reflections and moving trees. This means the camera can focus on the objects that matter for surveillance.

Alarm rules for different surveillance tasks

The video analytics can, among other things, react to objects in specific areas, line crossing, entering and leaving areas, loitering, counting and occupancy.

Objects can also be filtered by, among other things, size, direction, duration, color and object class. By default, classification of people and vehicles is supported.

If the installation requires more specialized analytics, the camera can also be expanded with a license for IVA Pro Perimeter or IVA Pro Traffic.

120 dB HDR

HDR helps the camera in situations where there are both very dark and very bright areas in the same image. This can be the case at an entrance, gate or hall where strong daylight is behind a person or vehicle.

The camera’s HDR is stated at 120 dB and helps preserve detail in both shadows and brightly lit areas.

How far can the camera see?

With the lens set to 3.2 mm, Bosch specifies the DORI distances at approximately 48 meters for detection, 19 meters for observation, 10 meters for recognition and 5 meters for identification.

At maximum zoom of 10.5 mm, the calculated distances increase to approximately 200 meters for detection, 79 meters for observation, 40 meters for recognition and 20 meters for identification.

DORI is based on standardized calculations of how many pixels an object occupies in the image. The figures should therefore not be confused with the camera’s 60-meter IR range. Bosch also points out that the DORI values do not indicate the range of the IVA video analytics.

Two-way communication option

The camera has audio input and audio output and supports both full duplex and half duplex audio. An external microphone and speaker can therefore be connected if there is a need to listen or communicate through the surveillance system.

The microphone and speaker are not built into the camera itself.

Supports SD cards

NBE-5703-AL supports microSDHC and microSDXC cards with up to 2 TB capacity. The SD card can be used for continuous recording, scheduled recording or recording on alarms and events.

The camera also supports compatible industrial SD cards with card health monitoring, providing an early indication if the card begins to require service.

H.265 and Intelligent Streaming

The camera supports H.265, H.264 and MJPEG as well as Bosch Intelligent Streaming. The combination of video analytics and video compression can reduce the amount of data that needs to be sent and stored by prioritizing the relevant parts of the image.

The camera can deliver several individually configurable video streams, so live viewing and recording, for example, can use different settings.

PoE makes installation easier

The camera supports PoE according to IEEE 802.3af/802.3at Type 1, Class 3. This means both power and network connection can be carried through the same network cable.

Power consumption is approximately 6.5 W with IR off and up to 10.57 W with IR activated. The camera can alternatively be powered by 12 VDC or 24 VAC.

IP66/IP67 and IK10 for outdoor use

NBE-5703-AL is designed for outdoor installation and is rated IP66 and IP67. The camera is therefore protected against dust and water and can be used in exposed outdoor areas.

IK10 also provides protection against mechanical impacts and vandalism. The camera can operate continuously at temperatures from -40 °C to +55 °C.

NEMA 4X provides extra protection

The camera is also NEMA 4X rated. In addition to protection against water and dust, NEMA 4X includes requirements for corrosion resistance, which can be relevant in more demanding environments such as industrial areas and places with high humidity.

Electronic image stabilization

The camera has gyro-based electronic image stabilization. This function can help reduce visible vibrations in the image if the camera mounting location is exposed to movement.

Security built into the camera

NBE-5703-AL has a built-in Secure Element with Trusted Platform Module functionality to protect, among other things, certificates and cryptographic keys.

The camera supports, among other things, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3, Secure Boot, signed firmware, XTS-AES encryption of local storage and end-to-end encryption together with supported video management systems.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.
