Ajax FireProtect 2 RB - wireless smoke and heat detector
FireProtect 2 RB is a wireless fire detector that detects smoke and rapid temperature changes. When triggered, the alarm immediately notifies the hub and can then alert you via the app, SMS or a phone call.
Reliable smoke detection
The sensor constantly monitors the air and responds instantly to smoke development. It uses an invisible light beam inside a detection chamber — when smoke particles enter, the beam is interrupted, which triggers the alarm. The sensor is designed to distinguish real smoke from other elements such as dust and steam.
Intelligent heat detection
In addition to smoke, the sensor also reacts to temperature changes, giving early warning even when there is no visible smoke. The alarm activates automatically on both sudden temperature rises and at temperatures above 58 °C.
Optical sensor
FireProtect 2 RB uses a dual-spectrum optical sensor with blue and infrared LEDs to accurately distinguish between smoke and other airborne particles like steam and dust.
Analysis: The sensor examines the size and composition of airborne particles.
Verification: FireProtect 2 RB checks data in real time using the HazeFlow 2 algorithm. Short-lived particles, such as cooking steam, are ignored to prevent false alarms.
Alerting: When smoke is confirmed, the alarm is activated with an immediate notification.
Minimal maintenance
The smoke detector has a patented smoke chamber that resists dust and insects, so it doesn't require regular cleaning. Regular function tests are recommended, but no other maintenance is necessary.
Interconnected alarms
When one smoke detector is triggered, all connected alarms start at the same time. The system can be expanded with both outdoor and indoor sirens so neighbors are also warned when an alarm goes off.
The system uses two communication paths:
- Primary hub connection: When triggered, the alarm notifies the hub, which activates all connected smoke detectors within 20 seconds.
- Backup connection: If the hub connection is lost, the alarms communicate directly with each other within 1 minute.
Easy installation
FireProtect 2 RB is installed easily in three steps: scan the QR code in the Ajax app, mount the device on the ceiling and complete the setup directly in the app.
Range
The range between the smoke detector and the hub is up to 1,700 meters in open terrain.
Battery life
The sensor comes with 2 × CR123A batteries with a lifespan of up to 5 years. Battery longevity is affected by several factors:
- Usage frequency — frequent alarms reduce battery life.
- Ambient temperature — low temperatures can affect battery performance.
- Battery quality — higher-quality batteries generally last longer.

The sensor sends an alert to the hub if someone attempts to remove it.
