Ajax FireProtect 2 RB - wireless smoke, heat and CO alarm
FireProtect 2 RB is a wireless fire detector that detects smoke, rapid temperature changes and elevated CO levels. When triggered the alarm immediately notifies the hub and can then alert you via the app, SMS or a phone call.
Reliable smoke detection
The sensor continuously monitors the air and reacts instantly to smoke. It uses an invisible beam of light inside a detection chamber — when smoke particles enter, the beam is broken, triggering the alarm. You avoid false alarms because the sensor is designed to distinguish real smoke from everyday elements like dust and steam from cooking.
Advanced heat detection
In addition to smoke, the alarm also responds to temperature changes, providing early warning even before visible smoke appears. The alarm activates automatically in two situations:
- At temperatures above 64 °C
- When temperature rises by more than 10 °C per minute
This is especially important for fires that develop rapidly without smoke in the early stage — for example electrical fires. The temperature threshold follows the A1R classification according to EN 54-5.
Carbon monoxide detection (CO)
FireProtect 2 RB has a built-in CO sensor that detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, also known as "the invisible killer".
CO levels are measured continuously, and the alarm is triggered at the following concentrations:
- 50 ppm (0.005%) – after 90 minutes.
- 100 ppm (0.01%) – after 40 minutes.
- 300 ppm (0.03%) – after 3 minutes.
The alarm stays active until the CO level falls below 40 ppm.
Optical sensor
FireProtect 2 RB uses a dual-spectrum optical sensor with blue and infrared LEDs to accurately distinguish between smoke and other airborne particles like steam and dust.
The alarm process happens in three steps:
Detection: The sensor analyses the size and composition of airborne particles.
Verification: The HazeFlow 2 algorithm analyses data in real time. Short-term influences like cooking steam are ignored to avoid false alarms.
Alerting: When smoke is confirmed, the alarm is activated with an immediate notification.
Minimal maintenance
The smoke alarm has a patented smoke chamber that is resistant to dust and insects and therefore doesn't require regular cleaning. Regular function tests are recommended, but no other maintenance is necessary.
Interconnected alerts
When one smoke alarm is triggered, all connected alarms start at the same time. The system can be expanded with both outdoor and indoor sirens so neighbors are also warned during an alarm.
The system has two communication paths:
- Primary hub connection: When activated, the alarm sends a message to the hub, which starts all connected smoke alarms within 20 seconds.
- Backup connection: If the hub connection is lost, the alarms communicate directly with each other within 1 minute.
Easy installation
FireProtect 2 RB is installed in three simple steps:
- Scan the QR code in the Ajax app.
- Mount the device on the ceiling.
- Finish the setup in the app.
Range
The range between the smoke alarm and the hub is up to 1,700 meters in open terrain.
Battery life
The sensor comes with 2 × CR123A batteries with a life of up to 7 years. Battery longevity is affected by several factors:
- Frequency of use — frequent alarms reduce battery life.
- Ambient temperature — low temperatures can affect battery performance.
- Battery quality — higher-quality batteries generally last longer.
Tamper protection
The sensor sends an alarm to the hub if removal is attempted.
