Ajax FireProtect Plus smoke detector
FireProtect Plus is a wireless fire detector that senses smoke, temperature rises and dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO). If the alarm is triggered, it immediately sends a message to the hub and on to your phone via the app, SMS or a call.
Detects smoke
FireProtect monitors the air and reacts instantly if it detects smoke. It works by sending an invisible beam of light through a small chamber. If smoke particles get in, they disturb the light and trigger the alarm. It doesn't react to just anything — it's designed to distinguish real smoke from other things like dust or steam.
Responds to temperature changes
Besides smoke, it also responds to changes in temperature. That lets you get a warning even if there’s no visible smoke. If the temperature in a room suddenly rises significantly, or if it exceeds 60 °C, the alarm will activate automatically.
In some situations, a fire can develop very quickly without producing smoke at first — for example, an electrical fire. If the temperature rises by more than 30 °C within 30 minutes, it’s treated as a potential danger and the alarm will activate.
Detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO)
FireProtect Plus has a built-in CO sensor that detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, also known as the “invisible killer.”
CO levels are measured continuously, and the alarm triggers at the following concentrations:
- 30 ppm (0.003%) – if the level persists for 120 minutes or more
- 50 ppm (0.005%) – if the level persists for 60–89 minutes
- 100 ppm (0.01%) – if the level persists for 10–39 minutes
- 300 ppm (0.03%) – if the level persists for 3 minutes
If the CO concentration falls below 40 ppm (0.004%), the alarm will deactivate automatically.
Optical sensor
It uses an algorithm called HazeFlow that distinguishes between smoke and other particles.
Initial detection: The sensor detects particles in the air and starts an internal check.
Verification: Instead of triggering an alarm immediately, the detector waits 30 seconds and checks whether smoke is still present. If the particles dissipate quickly, the alert is ignored — for example, if it was just steam from a boiling pot.
Confirmed fire hazard: If smoke is still present after 30 seconds, the alarm sounds and you’ll be notified.
All smoke alarms trigger together
If one smoke detector is activated, all the other smoke detectors will also sound. You can also connect indoor and outdoor sirens so neighbours can hear if a smoke alarm goes off.
Easy to set up and configure
FireProtect Plus is simple to install: scan the QR code in the Ajax app, mount it on the ceiling, and configure the device directly in the app.
Range
FireProtect Plus has a hub range of up to 1,300 meters in open space.
Battery life
The sensor comes with 2 × CR2 main batteries and 1 × CR2032 backup battery with a lifetime of up to 4 years. Actual life depends on several factors:
- How much it’s used – frequent activations can affect battery life.
- Temperature – very cold environments can reduce battery performance.
- Battery quality – higher-quality batteries typically last longer than standard ones.
Tamper protection
If someone tries to remove the sensor, it sends a tamper alert to the hub.
