Thermal and optical monitoring in one camera

Hikvision HM-TD1228-3/G1/T3A is a bi-spectrum turret camera that combines a thermal camera with a standard optical camera. This gives you two different types of information from the same surveillance point: the thermal part detects temperature differences, while the optical camera provides the recognizable video image.

The camera can also combine information from the two image channels. Bi-spectrum Image Fusion can show details from the optical channel on top of the thermal image, while Picture-in-Picture can show part of the thermal image on top of the optical image.

256 × 192 thermal sensor

The thermal channel uses an uncooled VOx detector with a resolution of 256 × 192 pixels and a pixel size of 12 μm. Thermal sensitivity is specified as NETD ≤25 mK at 25 °C and F1.0. High thermal sensitivity allows the camera to distinguish small temperature differences in the monitored area.

The thermal lens has a focal length of 3.6 mm and provides a 50.0° horizontal and 37.3° vertical field of view. The minimum focus distance is 0.3 meters, and the thermal channel supports 2× and 4× digital zoom.

5MP optical camera provides a detailed video image

Next to the thermal sensor is a 5MP optical camera with a maximum resolution of 2688 × 1944 pixels. The optical lens has a focal length of 4.3 mm and covers 84.0° horizontally and 43.1° vertically.

This means the optical channel covers a wider area than the thermal channel and can be used to capture the standard video image of people, vehicles, and surroundings when the camera detects an event.

Detection of people and vehicles with GUANLAN

The camera uses Hikvision's GUANLAN Large-Scale AI Model for video analytics. The function is designed to improve the detection of people and vehicles while reducing the number of false alarms.

Up to eight VCA rules can be created across four types: line crossing, intrusion into an area, access to an area, and exiting an area. This makes it possible to define which movements the camera should react to.

The specified VCA detection distance is up to 36 meters for people and up to 90 meters for vehicles. Actual performance depends, among other things, on the installation and surroundings.

Temperature measurement from -20 °C to 150 °C

HM-TD1228-3/G1/T3A can be used to monitor temperatures and trigger alarms for temperature deviations. The measurement range goes from -20 °C to 150 °C with an accuracy of ±8 °C.

Temperature measurement can be configured with point, area, and line rules. The camera supports up to 21 rules in total, so multiple relevant areas or objects can be monitored at the same time.

Hot spot detection

The camera supports an algorithm for detecting hot spots. This makes the thermal channel useful for early detection of abnormal heat, where a temperature rise may be a sign of a situation developing into something critical.

The function can therefore be used as part of monitoring in places such as storage areas, construction sites, parking areas, and other locations where both security and temperature development matter.

Smoke detection

HM-TD1228-3/G1/T3A also supports an algorithm for smoke detection. This allows the camera to register events classified as smoking and can be used as an additional analytics function in areas where this type of event needs to be monitored.

IR and white light up to 60 meters

The camera has hybrid illumination with infrared light, white light, and an automatic mode. Both the IR illumination and the white light have a specified range of up to 60 meters.

The optical channel also has 120 dB WDR, which helps preserve details in areas with strong differences between bright and dark parts.

Audio and light alarm directly from the camera

The camera can issue a visible alarm using the built-in white light, where the flashing frequency can be adjusted. Audio alarms are also supported in connection with video analytics and temperature deviations.

There are two preset voice messages, and up to six custom voice messages can be imported and shared between alarm types.

Local storage on MicroSD card

Recordings can be stored directly in the camera on a MicroSD, SDHC, or SDXC card with a capacity of up to 512 GB. The camera also supports network storage via NAS.

Video can be compressed with H.265 or H.264, while MJPEG is also supported on the secondary video stream.

Compatibility and connection

HM-TD1228-3/G1/T3A connects to the network via a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port. The camera supports, among other things, ISAPI, ISUP, Hikvision SDK, and ONVIF Profile S, G, T, and M, which makes integration with supported surveillance systems possible.

It also includes one alarm input, two alarm outputs, audio input, audio output, and an RS-485 interface for installations where external equipment needs to be connected to the camera.

PoE or 12 V DC

Power can be supplied through the same network cable as the data using PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 3. Alternatively, the camera can be powered with 12 V DC. Maximum power consumption is specified as 6.5 W with PoE and 6 W with 12 V DC.

IP67 for outdoor installation

The housing is IP67-rated and designed for installation in demanding outdoor environments. The specified operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to 65 °C at a relative humidity of up to 95%.

The camera measures 138.3 × 138.3 × 123.1 mm and weighs approximately 940 grams.
