Ajax FireProtect smoke alarm
FireProtect is a wireless fire detector that detects smoke and temperature increases. If the alarm is activated, it immediately sends a message to the hub and then to your phone via app, SMS or call.
Detects smoke
FireProtect monitors the air and if it detects smoke, it reacts immediately. It works by sending an invisible beam of light through a small chamber. If smoke particles enter, they interfere with the light and cause the alarm to go off. It does not react to just anything, as it is built to distinguish between real smoke and other elements such as dust or steam.
Responds to temperature changes
In addition to smoke, it can also react to temperature changes. This allows you to get a warning even if there is no visible smoke in the air. If the temperature in a room suddenly increases significantly, or if it reaches above 60 °C, the alarm will automatically go off.
In some situations, a fire develops very quickly, but without smoke at first. This can be the case with an electrical fire, for example. If the temperature rises by more than 30 °C in less than 30 minutes, this is interpreted as a potential hazard and will activate the alarm.
Optical sensor
It uses an algorithm called HazeFlow that distinguishes between smoke and other elements.
First detection: The sensor detects particles in the air and starts an internal test.
Verification: Instead of triggering an alarm immediately, FireProtect waits for 30 seconds and checks if there is still smoke. If the particles quickly disappear, the alarm is ignored, for example if it was just steam from a boiling pot.
Confirmed fire hazard: If there is still smoke after 30 seconds, the alarm will sound and you will be warned.
Maintenance
The smoke detector has a traditional smoke chamber that can be affected by dust and insects. It requires periodic cleaning to ensure it works properly.
All smoke alarms respond simultaneously
If a smoke detector is activated, all other smoke alarms will also be activated. It is also possible to connect outdoor and indoor sirens so that neighbors can also hear if a smoke alarm is triggered.
Easy to set up and configure
FireProtect is very easy to install. Scan the QR code in the Ajax app and place the sensor on the ceiling or wall. Then configure and test it in the app.
Range
FireProtect has a range to the hub of up to 1,300 meters in open terrain.
Battery life
The sensor comes with 2 × CR2 main batteries with a lifespan of up to 4 years. The lifespan depends on several factors:
- How much it is used – Frequent activation can affect battery life.
- Temperature – Very cold environments can reduce battery performance.
- Battery quality – Quality batteries typically last longer than standard batteries.
Tamper protection
If someone tries to remove the sensor, it sends a tamper alarm to the hub.
Dimensions and weight
- Size: 132 × 132 × 31 mm.
- Weight: 220 g.
- Colors: White or black.
Which Hubs does it fit?
FireProtect is compatible with all Ajax hubs, including:
- Hub
- Hub Plus
- Hub 2
- Hub 2 Plus
- ReX 2 signal amplifier
