Ajax MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller
Ajax MotionCam (PhOD) Jeweller is a wireless motion sensor with a built-in camera that gives you visual alarm verification directly in the Ajax app. When the sensor detects motion, both the alarm and images from the area are sent so you can quickly see what’s happening.
PhOD stands for Photo on Demand and offers more options than the standard MotionCam. In addition to pictures on alarm, you can manually take photos via the app, schedule automatic photos, or receive images for specific events in the system.
This makes MotionCam (PhOD) suitable for both homes and businesses where you want extra control and fast visual verification during incidents.
Photo verification directly in the app
When the sensor detects motion, the built-in camera automatically takes a series of images. The images are encrypted and sent via the Ajax Wings protocol and shown directly in the app.
This lets you quickly assess the situation and tell the difference between a real incident and a false alarm.
You can choose between several resolutions and numbers of images per alarm, depending on how much detail you want.
Photo on Demand – see what’s happening whenever you want
MotionCam (PhOD) lets you take pictures yourself directly from the Ajax app whenever you want. The feature is called Photo on Demand and makes it possible to check what’s going on at home or at your business without the alarm necessarily being triggered.
For example, you can use it to check whether everything looks normal in the building, if a window is open, or if there’s activity in an area. The feature requires access rights in the system and can be controlled individually for each user.
More options than the regular MotionCam
The regular MotionCam only takes pictures on alarm. MotionCam (PhOD) can also:
- Take pictures manually via the app
- Take pictures automatically on a schedule
- Take pictures when the alarm is armed or disarmed
- Take pictures based on scenarios from other devices
This provides much greater flexibility and makes the sensor suitable for both security and general building monitoring.
Privacy and access control
Ajax places great emphasis on privacy around the Photo on Demand feature. The system administrator decides who may take pictures, which sensors may be used, and who can view the images.
Images from Photo on Demand are sent encrypted and stored securely in Ajax Cloud. Alarm receiving centres do not have access to these images by default. All actions are logged in the system’s event log.
IR light for dark environments
The built-in IR light allows MotionCam (PhOD) to take pictures in dark or poorly lit rooms. That means you can still get visual confirmation of incidents at night or in dark areas.
However, it’s important to note that the camera does not replace a dedicated surveillance camera. Its purpose is alarm verification and situational awareness, not continuous video surveillance or detailed identification.
The images will therefore typically be simpler and less detailed than those from a dedicated high-resolution surveillance camera with powerful IR illumination. In return, MotionCam (PhOD) is very quick to deliver images directly during incidents and provides an effective extra layer of security.
Ignores small pets
MotionCam (PhOD) can ignore small pets up to 20 kg and 50 cm when the sensor is mounted correctly. The feature is not 100% foolproof, however, as detection also depends on where the pet is relative to the sensor and how it moves around the room.
If an animal jumps onto furniture, windowsills, or comes close to the sensor, the risk of an alarm can increase. Therefore, we recommend magnetic contacts on doors and windows if you want maximum security without pet-triggered alarms.
Wireless communication with long range
MotionCam (PhOD) communicates wirelessly via the Ajax Jeweller and Wings protocols. Jeweller is used for alarms and status messages, while Wings is used for image transfer.
The system constantly monitors the connection to the hub and notifies you in case of tampering, signal problems, or loss of connection.
Easy installation
The sensor is easily mounted with the SmartBracket bracket without opening the enclosure. Adding it to the system is done by scanning the QR code in the Ajax app.
All settings can subsequently be changed directly from the app without physical access to the sensor.
