PTZ camera with 25x optical zoom and automatic tracking

DH-SD4A425DB-HNY combines a movable PTZ camera with a 5-125 mm lens. The camera can rotate continuously 360° and tilt from -5° to +90°, so it can monitor different areas from the same mounting location.

The PTZ movement can be controlled manually, but the camera can also work with presets, tours, patterns and automatic functions.

25x optical zoom for long-distance surveillance

The motorized 5-125 mm lens provides 25x optical zoom. In the wide setting, the horizontal viewing angle is about 51.9°, while at maximum zoom it is reduced to about 3°.

Optical zoom means the lens physically changes focal length. This gives you far more detail on a distant object than simply enlarging the image digitally. It is especially useful in larger areas where the camera needs to inspect people, vehicles or events far from the mounting position.

Auto Tracking 1.0 follows people and vehicles

The camera supports Auto Tracking 1.0 for automatic tracking of people and vehicles. When a relevant rule is triggered, the camera can move and zoom to follow the target and try to keep it in the frame.

Tracking can be triggered manually or through defined rules. This allows the PTZ camera to actively follow an event instead of only recording from a fixed position.

WizSense perimeter protection

The camera's WizSense features use Deep Learning to distinguish relevant targets from other movement. The perimeter protection supports, among other things, tripwire and intrusion, as well as classification of people and vehicles.

The goal is to reduce unnecessary alarms from, for example, animals, moving leaves and other motion that traditional motion detection may react to.

In addition, it supports detection of loitering, rapid movement, parking, crowds, as well as abandoned or removed objects.

SMD 3.0 focuses on people and vehicles

SMD 3.0 helps filter out ordinary motion events and focus on people and vehicles. This can make alerts more relevant because the camera can better ignore movement from objects that are not important for surveillance.

Automatic patrol

The camera can work with up to 300 presets and supports tours, patterns and scanning. This makes it possible to let the camera move automatically between specific positions.

Auto Patrol can also link a detected IVS event with the PTZ function, so the camera moves toward the relevant position and continues working based on the configured presets.

Starlight for areas with low light

Dahua Starlight is designed to deliver usable images in very low-light conditions. The camera's light sensitivity is stated as 0.005 lux in color and 0.0005 lux in black and white at F1.6.

This means the camera can make use of very limited existing light before the built-in IR illumination becomes necessary.

Up to 100 meters IR

The camera has six built-in IR LEDs with a stated range of up to 100 meters. The IR illumination makes it possible to monitor in complete darkness, where the camera works in black and white.

The illumination can be controlled automatically and adjusted according to the zoom level, so the light better matches the camera's current field of view.

120 dB WDR for strong lighting differences

With 120 dB WDR, the camera can handle areas where there are both very bright and dark parts in the same image. This can be relevant, for example, at gates, driveways or areas with strong light sources in the background.

The camera also includes HLC, 2D/3D noise reduction and electronic defog for further image adjustment.

Electronic image stabilization

Electronic image stabilization, EIS, can help reduce visible vibrations in the image. This can be useful for outdoor installation, where wind or vibrations from the structure, for example, may affect the camera.

Face detection

The camera supports face detection and can detect faces, follow them with a framing box and take snapshots. It supports, among other things, face enhancement and different snapshot selection strategies.

This function should not be confused with actual identification of people against a face database. The provided datasheet describes face detection and snapshots, but does not specify standalone face recognition against a database in the camera.

How far can the camera see?

Dahua specifies the DORI distances as up to approximately 2,500 meters for detection, 987.5 meters for observation, 500 meters for recognition and 250 meters for identification.

The very long values are linked to the camera's 125 mm telephoto setting and should be understood as standardized DORI values according to EN 62676-4. DORI describes how many pixels an object occupies in the image at different distances.

These values are therefore not the same as the camera's IR range or the range of the AI functions. The IR illumination is specified for up to 100 meters, and Dahua specifically states that the DORI figures do not reflect the distances of the intelligent functions.

Supports SD cards up to 512 GB

The camera supports SD cards with a capacity of up to 512 GB, so recordings can be stored locally. In addition, storage via NAS and FTP/SFTP is supported.

Three video streams can be used with different resolutions and settings, so the video can be adapted to different purposes such as recording and live viewing.

External audio support

The camera has one audio input and one audio output for external audio equipment. According to the datasheet, it does not have a built-in microphone or speaker, but the installation can be expanded with compatible external audio equipment.

It also has two alarm inputs and one alarm output for integration with external devices.

PoE+ or 12 V DC

The camera can be powered via PoE+ or 12 V DC. With PoE+, power and network connection can run through the same network cable.

A 12 V DC / 2 A power supply is included according to the datasheet. The camera's maximum power consumption is stated as 21.5 W when, among other things, IR, the fan and PTZ functions are active.

IP66 for outdoor installation

DH-SD4A425DB-HNY is IP66 rated and designed for outdoor use. The camera can operate at temperatures from -40 °C to +65 °C and at relative humidity of up to 95%.

It also includes protection against, among other things, overvoltage and voltage transients, as well as TVS 6000 V lightning protection.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.

Audio Trigger

Univiews cameras with microphone can also respond to what they don't see. For example, it can be cries or screaming on a women's toilet if you place the camera outside the door.

PTZ

Stands for Pan, Tilt and Zoom and means the camera can turn right and left, up and down and zoom in to get the best pictures.
You can control it from your mobile, computer or even a joystick. The camera can also be set to constantly patrol between fixed points.

Autotracking

PTZ cameras may have built-in intelligence and keep an eye for you. If something happens that the camera assesses is interesting, it will immediately zoom in and follow the object.
