MotionProtect Outdoor is designed to perform reliably in demanding environments where ordinary motion sensors often struggle with false alarms. The detector continuously monitors the area and responds quickly to people entering the protected zone.

Outdoor motion detection up to 15 meters

The detector can detect motion at distances up to 15 meters. The detection area can be adjusted directly on the device so it fits the installation site and reduces unnecessary alarms.

Two PIR sensors with LISA analysis

MotionProtect Outdoor uses two PIR sensors together with the Ajax LISA analysis algorithm. The detector compares signals from both sensors in real time and evaluates whether the movement resembles a human.

This helps reduce false alarms from, for example, moving branches, animals, heavy rain, heat disturbances or other outdoor influences.

Pet immunity

The detector can ignore pets up to approximately 80 cm tall when installed and adjusted correctly. This makes it suitable for areas with dogs or other animals.

Outdoor environments are, however, more challenging than indoor installations, and pet immunity is never 100% foolproof. The animal's size, distance to the detector, jumping, movement pattern and terrain can affect detection.

To minimize false alarms, correct placement, proper mounting height and professional setup are recommended.

Advanced anti-masking

MotionProtect Outdoor features built-in anti-masking that detects if someone tries to block, tape or paint over the detector's lenses.

The system can also detect attempts at tampering or removal and immediately notifies the user or the monitoring center.

Built for outdoor use

The detector is built to withstand rain, snow, dust and temperature fluctuations. The enclosure is IP55 rated and operates in temperatures from −25 °C to +60 °C.

If installed in exposed locations, using the Ajax Hood is recommended to protect the anti-masking sensors from rain and snow.

Stable wireless communication

MotionProtect Outdoor communicates wirelessly with the Ajax hub via Jeweller technology. The system constantly monitors the connection and notifies you of signal issues or loss of connection.

Wireless range up to 1,700 meters

The detector has up to 1,700 meters range in open space. For larger areas, range can be extended with Ajax ReX signal repeaters.

Up to 5 years battery life

MotionProtect Outdoor is powered by two CR123A batteries with up to 5 years of battery life under normal conditions. The detector can also be connected to an external power supply, with the batteries acting as backup.

Professional installation recommended

Outdoor motion detectors require proper placement and setup to work optimally. Terrain, plants, driveways, animals and other surroundings significantly affect performance.

We therefore recommend professional installation to ensure correct coverage and minimize the risk of false alarms.
