5 MP WizMind camera for demanding outdoor installations

The camera has a 1/2.7" CMOS sensor with a maximum resolution of 2960 × 1668 pixels and up to 25/30 frames per second. Together with Dahua’s AI-ISP image processing, the camera is designed to deliver detailed images both during the day and in challenging lighting conditions.

Motor zoom from 2.7 to 13.5 mm

The motorized 2.7-13.5 mm lens makes it possible to adjust the camera’s field of view after installation. In the wide setting, you get approximately 110° horizontal viewing angle, while the tele setting reduces the viewing angle to around 32° and concentrates more pixels on a smaller area further away.

This is an advantage if the camera needs to cover, for example, an entrance, gate, quay, parking area, or a longer area where the desired image angle is only determined during installation.

WizMind with advanced AI analysis

The WizMind series uses Deep Learning and Dahua’s Xinghan Large-Scale AI Models-Vision for video analysis. The camera supports, among other things, perimeter protection, SMD 4.0, face detection, people counting, and AcuPick.

Perimeter protection can be used for intrusion and tripwire detection and can classify people, vehicles, animals, and other objects. The camera also supports functions such as fast movement detection, loitering, crowd detection, and parking detection.

AcuPick makes searching recordings faster

AcuPick combines the camera’s analysis with the intelligence in a compatible Dahua recorder. The feature is designed to quickly find specific targets such as people, animals, and motor vehicles in large amounts of live and recorded video.

Instead of manually reviewing long recordings, the system can help narrow the search to the events and objects that matter. The feature requires a compatible backend unit to make use of the full AcuPick search.

Smart Dual Light – IR and warm white light

The camera combines IR illumination with warm white light. The IR range is up to 60 meters, while the warm white light has a range of up to 50 meters.

During normal night surveillance, the camera can use IR so the area does not need to be constantly lit with visible light. When the camera’s analysis detects a relevant target in the surveillance area, the white light can be activated so the relevant event can be recorded in color. When the target leaves the area, the camera can switch back to IR.

Very high light sensitivity

The camera is specified for light sensitivity down to 0.0009 lux in color and 0.0005 lux in black and white at F1.6 and 30 IRE. With the camera’s own illumination activated, it can operate at 0 lux.

This means the camera is designed with special focus on surveillance in very low light conditions, where ordinary cameras may otherwise have to switch to black and white or lose important detail.

120 dB WDR in challenging lighting conditions

With 120 dB WDR, the camera can handle scenes with large differences between bright and dark areas. This can be, for example, a gate, entrance, or building where strong daylight is behind a person or vehicle.

The camera also includes HLC, BLC, 3D noise reduction, electronic image stabilization, and defog for different surveillance situations.

Face detection

The camera supports face detection and can take snapshots of detected faces. The function can, among other things, optimize the selected snapshot and extract different facial features and expressions.

It is important to distinguish between face detection and actual face recognition. The included camera can detect and process faces as described in the datasheet, but the datasheet itself does not state that the camera alone identifies people against a face database.

People counting and queue analysis

The WizMind analysis can also be used for people counting. The camera supports, among other things, counting people crossing a line, counting within an area, and queue management.

Reports can be generated over different periods, making the feature relevant for stores, entrances, and other places where statistics on traffic and occupancy are desired.

DORI from wide angle to tele

DORI describes the expected level of detail at different distances and is based on EN 62676-4. With the lens in the widest position, the values are approximately 65.4 meters for detection, 26.1 meters for observation, 13.1 meters for recognition, and 6.5 meters for identification.

At maximum tele, the corresponding values increase to approximately 202 meters, 80.8 meters, 40.4 meters, and 20.2 meters.

The DORI distances are not the same as the camera’s IR range or the range of the AI functions. They describe the image detail at the lens’s different settings. The distances for the intelligent functions depend, among other things, on the setup and the specific analysis function.

Designed for corrosive environments

A major difference between this model and a regular dome camera is the housing. The camera uses a special corrosion-protected aluminum housing and is classified as C5-H according to ISO 12944-6:2018 as well as NEMA 4X.

Dahua specifies the model for environments such as chemical plants, harbors, coastal areas, and other places with high humidity, salt, or corrosive influences. The manufacturer also states use in areas up to 2 km from the coast and areas exposed to acid rain.

IP67 and IK10

The camera is IP67 rated against dust and water and IK10 rated against mechanical impact. The combination makes the camera suitable for outdoor locations where both weather and the risk of physical impact must be considered.

The operating temperature ranges from -40 °C to +60 °C.

Built-in microphone and two-way audio option

The camera has a built-in microphone so audio can be recorded together with the video. In addition, there is one separate audio input and one audio output via RCA.

This makes it possible to connect external audio equipment if the installation requires, for example, another microphone or an external speaker.

Supports SD cards up to 1 TB

The camera supports SD cards with a capacity of up to 1 TB. Recordings can therefore be stored locally in the camera, and storage is also possible via NAS, FTP, and SFTP.

H.265 and AI-based video compression

The camera supports H.265, H.264, Smart H.265+, Smart H.264+, as well as AI H.265 and AI H.264. Up to four video streams can be used, so different resolutions and frame rates can be used for, for example, live viewing and recording.

The goal is to reduce the need for bandwidth and storage space without unnecessarily reducing the quality of the areas and events that are relevant to surveillance.

PoE+, 12 V DC and ePoE

The camera can be powered by 12 V DC or PoE+ via the network cable and also supports Dahua ePoE. With PoE, both power and network data can run through the same cable.

If 12 V DC and PoE are connected at the same time, the camera supports power backup between the two supplies. If one power source is interrupted, the camera can continue on the other without restarting.

Power over Ethernet

Do like the professionals. POE means that only one cable is needed for the camera. The camera gets power through the network cable, typically from a recorder with built-in PoE, or from a POE switch.
